Ducks need some more defense while Lindholm is out and Heinen keeps getting scratched for no reason. Heinen could be a good top 6 forward to play along with Staal.

If the Canucks offered Virtanen for Heinen, then the Sabres should not offer Montour.

Especially when the Sabres actually paid Anaheim a prospect and a low 1st just to get Montour in the first place.
