At full AAV, no thanks. We need to pay Kaprizov, Fiala, and Ek this offseason. Hartman is also due for a raise. We can't afford to take on his full cap hit.

If he was worth his full cap hit they could make it work. He's just not worth $8m/yr.

I'd make this trade if it was offered and leave him exposed in the expansion draft. It's getting Rask off the books for free.

I do tend to agree. I think the Wild won't do anything to take on cap. But, Johansen is an interesting player. Good at faceoffs and a change of scenery might help him, and we do need some help at C. But, its to much of a gamble for many reasons. I think the Wild is best served by sitting on their hands and letting Rossi, Boldy, Beckman, etc. develop. And see what we have then. He does drive play pretty well and might look good on the PP or with wingers like Kaprizov and Fiala.

Rask is only signed for one more year. We can eat that year and still have enough room to get Kaprizov, Ek, and Fiala under long-term deals. We cannot do that with 4.5 more years of Johansen at $8M...

Unless they're willing to take Parise (and Parise is willing to waive) then I'm not sure we could make it work. Johansen really intrigues me because he's been very solid for the majority of his career even if he's not what Nashville expected when they gave up Jones for him. He's been a career 60 point guy and his poor play has stemmed back to the firing of Laviolette so I think there's a real possibility he turns it around with a new team.

The biggest query is how the Wild management team looks at Johansen. If they think he's a worthy player, I think they would be interested. But, there are so many things that can get set into motion by taking on that much cap and term. So, I think they would really have to be in love with him to try and trade for him. Another hidden thing to consider, is the way Johansen's contract is structured, the buyout possibilities down the road aren't the worst.

Like I said, leave him exposed in the expansion draft. He'll be the best center SEA could get from any team. Wild are out nothing this year, and gain $4m from Rask's cap hit next year.

If you want to keep RyJo, Dumba can be traded for more than just the center MN has been saying. It opens up some options.

I'm very much aware. I don't know who would want him at this point.

There are some nice retirement homes that would love to have his money...
