Does Ottawa need more (low end) prospects right now? Retaining 750K still leaves Byron with a cap hit of 2.65M per season (two remaining). Ottawa could likely resign Dzingel for two years at that price. Or leave that spot open for one of the many, many prospects; Formenton, Sokolov, Pinto, Abramov, Logan Brown... and put that money towards picking up a D man for a year or two while we wait for Sanderson, Kleven, Thomson...
Byron has speed and can PK but he's not a player we need AT ALL. So I'd either want a much better sweetener or, if it's a 3rd and 4th coming back Montreal needs to retain $1.5M to bring Byron's cap hit under $2M.

A 3rd and a 4th are just nice stores of value.

The problem with Byron is his price. At 2.65, OTT can retain 750-1Mk themselves and get more picks to move him.

Byron at 3.5 x 2 isnt valuable, but I think OTT could still get a return from Byron @ 1.5-1.9.
