lines without lee

Created by: Isles777
Team: 2020-21 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 11, 2021
Published: Mar. 11, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It's time to reunite beau-barzal-eberle. A ton of speed of skill, beau brings a different dynamic to that line and he can finish off the rush.

It seems like wahlstrom and nelson have developed some chemistry - every time theyre on the ice together its an extended shift in the ozone. Without lee, wahlstrom should get an increased role.

If Lee is out long term we’re gonna need to make some sort of semi-big move for a winger

out for the season? for sure. Out for a month, I might just roll with these lines and see how they play. Maybe give bellows another look.

It’s all good you’ll be rewarded with Owen power

Hopefully. I think we'll get screwed by the lottery.

I don’t think power goes 1st - honestly either one of hughes/power would be great for the devils

The first two lines are pretty much what I envisioned, but I'm thinking Komorov over Czarnik. Although to be a 100% honest I feel Bellows should get a 2nd chance. Everyone has a bad game even the mega superstars. Trotz needs to cave and play him in at least another game.

Czarnik brings speed and skill + he can play on the pk.

I agree on bellows but trotz is stubborn and I highly doubt he plays a another game this season. At least send bellows to BPT , not sure what the plan is with him.

Czarnik brings speed not skill, where do you get skill from? His 35 career points? I only say Komorov because Lou's trying to move him, ironically for a LW which we could use now. Plus, Trotz loves him for some reason. Otherwise I'd say throw Bellows on RW or move Dal Colle over to that side.

If it's his MCL or ACL, it will be a while.

Trotz is one of the worst coaches in the league at adapting to injuries. Wouldn’t be surprised if he throws komarov on barzal’s lw

LOL..we've already seen that experiment this season. Wait that was the second line. Just as bad though.

ive seen some awful takes on twitter and Facebook....fans advocating for putting Komarov , ladd, johnston, and Martin on barzal's wing because they have size....woof. I also saw "Parise was just healthy scratched in Minnesota we should trade for him" Ah yes lets trade for a winger who has fallen off a cliff this season and has 5 more years left on his contract lol.

The best option is to move Beauvillier to barzal's wing. They have a ton of chemistry and beau-barzal-eberle was our best line in 17-18

Beau-barzal-eberle (358 min)

Goals for per 60 min : 4.52
Goals against per 60: 2.68

Now compare that to lee-tavares-bailey
goals for per 60 : 2.66
goals against per 60 : 3.26

I agree with them that they could use size on that line, but size that can score. None of those you mentioned can at least consistently.

I agree they should move Beau to his wing, but if I'm being a 100% honest. I think Wahlstrom should get the spot on that line. He's got a wicked one time shot and Barzals an elite play maker. Plus Walstrom seems to enjoy the LW at least it's the side he plays on the PP. Maybe leave Beau where he is since the Nelson line is actually playing better since his return.

I agree Wahlstrom should play with barzal but im trying to be realistic - I'm not a fan of the beau-nelson-bailey line. I don't think Bailey and beau have chemistry , I know they produced a couple of nice goals in the playoffs but over the last two years that line has been underwhelming. Wahlstrom and Bailey play at a similar pace and wahlstrom has such a quick release he doesn't need much space to get it off.

Lee-barzal-eberle have been great this season, but adding beau with his speed on that line is going to push the D back and allow for more scoring off the rush.
Rokk liked this.

We'll see what happens tomorrow night. I'd like to know what indefinitely means in terms of injuries though. Is it a week a month, end of the season? If it's the end of the season they may just move him to the LTIR and clear some cap space.

I have a feeling trotz is going to put MDC on the 1st line - I’ve liked MDC game this season but his confidence wavers to much for my liking and I don’t think he can keep up with barzal

Yeah I’m not sure - FWIW they said pelech tore his Achilles the day after his injury, maybe indefinitely means that it’s possible he’ll be back by the playoffs?

It's possible he plays MDC who knows? As far as Lee's concerned anything longer than 6 weeks he should go on the LTIR, There's 2 months left in the season and he'll be so out of shape and out of sync when he gets back. There's a pretty good possibility he'll hurt the team more than help them during a play-off run.

Why would you think he’ll hurt the team more than help them during a playoff run?

It depends on when he comes back. If He's out a short time, he'll have the time to get back in to a rhythm as well as in to game shape. If he's off until May or mid playoffs he won't be at the level he is now and he'll be playing catch up. That's why I said 6 (or 7) weeks that'll give him a week or 2 to get play off ready in my opinion. Anything longer than that is just bad. He's already a notoriously slow skater, his transition game isn't all that great, both these things he worked hard in the off season to improve. Now, imagine an out of shape Lee.
