Because if we keep sucking and its a high pick, that would suck. If we (very unlikely) get a top 3 pick, that player could be helpful as early as next year which means we could be better for a push next year

I understand. However, if sutter can turn it around, we won't be in a position for a high pick and there will be no point then to trade the pick because the 2021 draft class isn't great.

I don't imagine the Flames will be selling Sam Bennett this season. He and Sutter are a perfect mix on paper, and through one game it looks perfect. As Sam said, it's a fresh start. If the player/coach relationship blossoms, Treliving's patience will have paid off.

Both teams easily say No. Garland would be your #1RW, so that return is utterly inadequate. Anaheim needs a right-handed forward and help at RD, and Bennett is neither (although a perfectly fine player). We wouldn't take less than your 2021 first (top-3 protected) and an A prospect at RW or RD for Rickard Rakell.
