Cant see them trading dougie when they are in contention for the cup. Also I think the Flyers decline that aswell.

This is the offseason. Dougie is a top 12 D Man so idk why philly would have a problem trading an unproven prospect a first a second and morgan frost who doesn't fit anymore with farabee becoming a star.

Because Philly is on the playoff bubble and that is a lot to pay for a rental.

In what reality are UFA negotiating rights worth an org's top prospect, a 1st, AND a 2nd? No way the Canes move Dougie in season.

Some things wrong here:

Canes aren’t trading Hamilton. If he could be had for $7.5M x 6, why the heck would they consider trading him?

Svechnikov has already turned down $7.5M x 8, no way he takes $7.25M x 7. He’ll likely get a bridge deal, like Laine’s.

Foegele at $3M??? Yikes.

It will likely take more than $1.5M x 3 to re-sign RFA Bean if he keeps putting up .5pts a game.

Again, Canes aren’t trading Hamilton

I love all of the signings and the lines. Hope Jarvy gets to join the squad next season. These are the adjustments I'd make to the signings (Idk how this would work with the cap)

Bean 3x3
Foegele is about right
Geekie 1.5 x 2
Ned 3 x 4
Svech 7.5 x 5 (He wants a bridge deal apparently so Idk)
Mrazek 4.5 x 4
Doug 7.5 x 6

McGinn 2.75 x 4

Right. You might get a 2nd for his rights if somebody REALLY wanted him, if you’re willing to trade those rights it means he’s walking to UFA where you could get him for nothing more than the contract you would offer him anyways. This is a deal for a top pair defender with a year or more left on his deal.

I gotta think Dougie says Petro got 8.8 by 7 years, I’m not taking a penny less. Right?

It's a sign and trade type thing not a philly trading for his rights

Yes, but why does Dougie do that? He’d rather get offers of over 8 by 7 like Petro on the market. Only way a sign and trade makes sense is if he goes 8 years to make the cap work.

Not to mention he’d get an NTC minimum.

Nobody is giving a 27 year old defensemen 8X7 in a flat cap year with a NTC or NMC who has an injury history

That may be, but Hamilton isn’t going to lose his ability to try for it so the Canes can get some value out of him. The man will get 8 mil AAV minimum. Teams always have money for guys like him.

In retrospect, his offensive play is just... magnificent. I agree with you, we just need the cap.

Maybe that Svech bridge deal is the godsend? The next 3 years are all you need to make it work, after that you let that great scouting dept do what they do.
