Actually in every aspect of business you are legally required to honor a contract. That’s what a contract is- a legally binding agreement between two parties.

Buffalo has made efforts to acquire good pieces, they just backfire. It’s not for a lack of spending, and it’s really not for a lack of trying. Not trying, or “not giving a damn” would be then sitting on their hands this past off-season and say yeah, we’re not gonna do anything. They signed hall, staal, traded for Montour- moves that at the time we’re applauded in the media. They’re a dumpster fire don’t get me wrong but you can’t say they don’t “give a damn”

Yes. I understand the basic concept of a contract. My insinuation was that in these days all you have to do is piss and moan and demand out and it will happen, hence not honoring said contract. Someone else will absorb the contract.

We agree on that- it shouldn’t be 4 Lafreniere type of first rounders. That’s asinine. Lafreniere was regarded as an Eichel type talent coming out.

I do not think, however, that giving up one high first rounder (Kakko), a B+ prospect (Nils) plus a first rounder that’s looking like a top 12ish pick in this draft is an outrageous ask. Kakko isn’t a Laf type talent- neither is Nils. They both have really good potential but nothing on that level. The 2021 first is tough because you have eligible guys that haven’t competed in over a year, so it’s not as valuable as it normally would be in any other year

Not sure Nils should be considered B+ here.
He has put up better numbers in the SHL than both Dahlin and Karlsson.

He’s also been in the SHL longer than both of them- he didn’t have better numbers than Dahlin in his draft year. Karlsson im not sure about, so he may have him beat there

You may be right or wrong but one thing is for sure, no team can add 10m in cap without sending some back.

If and its still a big IF that is the return you get, expect those teams to add some unwanted cap going back they other way. We're talking Deangelo for sure as well as probably Strome just so NYR can stay cap compliant.

If i were trading Eichel I'd tell the team to go find someone else to get cap compliant. Im trading you a superstar, I don't want your cap dump. Your cap space isnt my problem.

So keep Eichel and enjoy the constant attention and distraction with having him be unhappy on this team. Im sure there is zero effect to that, right?.....

Btw i am opposed to trading Eichel. I think fixing the problem in Buffalo is easier/wiser than trading Eichel for his proper value. Buffalo can be fixed, convincing anyone to take Eichel on without losing any cap in the trade AND paying top value back in terms of prospects and picks is less likely IMHO.
