don't think so

The 1st is likely going to be late and Noel is fine, but nowhere near good enough to make this deal work

Wennberg is good as well, but he expires after this season

what would you expect as a return if hertl was dealt at 2021 TDL

Noel is not very good anymore imo.

for a rental Denisenko could be probable but it depends on what you mean by 2021 TDL.

If its THIS COMING TDL, youll need to pay more then this offer for hertl (2 years, helps this playoff run and the next, and could resign), would need to be Denisenko plus 1st plus maybe a small add (all depends on what the deal looks like but either way the Sharks can retain 50% to provide FLA more value).

If its NEXT TDL, then Hertl for Denisenko and a first or second works depending on where Denisenko is on development.

I think it would probably have to be something like your 2021 1st, Denisenko, and maybe Vatrano

edit- meant to quote your post asking what the return would have to be

I think I mistook Hertl for Meier or something

I agree that he is worth more, would be willing to do a player + 1st + Denisenko

Would have to start with the 2017 Martin Hanzal deal as the starting point and add a significant piece or two from there as Hertl is better and he's also not on an expiring deal.

So that would be 1st + 2nd+ 4th + Prospect to meet the Hanzal trade at the 2017 TDL. Then add another 1st to compensate for the additional year in 2021-22. So total package would be 2 1st rounders, 2nd rounder, 4th rounder, and B level prospect. Would also be good building a deal around Lundell + 1st + B level prospect.

Obviously it is a steep price, but prime aged 1st line centers don't come cheap, especially with retention and a non-expiring deal. End of the day, don't see the Sharks moving Hertl as it would signal a rebuild and DW has insisted that is not going to happen.

Return similar to the Duchene trade for reference.
