Description
Neal buyout.
Klef coming off LTIR mid season so left some cap space.
Goalies are voodoo, Oil goalies look okay, this season. We can test drive Stalock, Skinner and Konovalov if there is wabble and try to find an internal low cost solution.

I would hope edmonton does something with the goalies.

I also think its a bad time to pick up copp, He's an RFA with Arbitration and is scoring 0.75 pts/game he's scheduled for a raise.

That's gonna be a no from WPG. Copp is having a career year and is EXTREMELY valuable to WPG. I would argue that WPG has one of the best 3rd lines in hockey with Copp - Lowry - Appleton. Also...no disrespect at all but Copp > Bear by a mile.

I agree, yall got a pretty dangerous bottom six (that Perrault line aint no joke either!).

However, with all the pending UFAs & RFAs (Stastny, Perrault, Lowry, Copp, Thompson, Lewis, Pionk, Forbort, Stanley, Poolman) and only 24M (less 5.3 if Little is back to full health) would you want to pay him more than league average when you play him on the bottom six as opposed to having a cost-controlled top 4 RHD in Bear?
Really asking because I don't know much about PEG's team but Copp is interesting for sure!

I totally understand your thought process! Speaking to our UFA/RFA situation, Stastny, Lowry, Forbort & Lewis would be the only UFAs I can realistically see being brought back. I think Stastny will finish his career as a Jet and take a more team friendly deal. Lewis would also be around league minimum and Forbort deserves a raise but won't be outrageous. For our RFAs, Pionk will command a big raise and I have no issues giving him that. Copp is 2nd in line and I could see him coming in around $4.5m/year on a longer term deal which is do-able with our cap situation. Stanley unfortunately I believe will be selected by Seattle frown Little is all but confirmed to be done with hockey and will ride out that contract on the LTIR before retiring.

Now, going back to the Bear for Copp scenario, Bear is a great, cost controlled (like you said) defender, but I just feel like Copp, while he will be more expensive benefits the Jets more.

    I appreciate your feedback/response!!

I'll just say this while we're on the subject of giving raises lol. I'm glad one team rewards players with a well-deserved raise and all I hear from the fanbase (from my limited vantage point) is "well, he deserves it so whatevs". Pionk and Morrissey are paid (and going to be paid) fair value for what they bring. Now, the Oilers have to convince Nurse to take 6M-ish right when he's proving he can be a legit 1st pair (albeit a 1B at this point) D-man, something we know is in short supply in EDM the past decade or so. "tHaT's tOo mUcH, tRaDe HiM" *doublefacepalm

Back to the matter at hand. I see now that for your team needs, Copp is going to be better value for the $$$ than Bear will be. That's really a shame for Little, he's a good player!

Haha I definitely wont disagree with you there!! smile I truly hope Nurse ends up staying in EDM on a fair deal for both sides, he definitely deserves to be paid and honestly, even if it's a slight over-pay, just do it. Like you said, they've been in short supply and he would be a huge loss. I have a feeling they will come to an agreement and he remains an Oiler.

Yeah, the Little situation was honestly kind of sad. He gave everything for our organization and you never wanna see a players career end early like that. I won't complain about the extra cap space which we desperately needed...but again I would never wish that on anyone!
