Starting Afresh in 21-22

Created by: Hammerwise
Team: 2021-22 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 2, 2021
Published: Apr. 2, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
About 7mil in cap space: for top 6 forward (Danault was chosen)

Still have over 3mil in cap space (have 13 forwards and 8 dmen dressed).

Could go for UFAs Davis Savard or Brandon Mojntour at RD, instead of trading for Dumba, but wanted to bring up Zamula or York on 3rd pair.

UFAs Oleksiak and Danault bring some added grit, and Allison/Ratcliffe bring grit and size. Good youth throughout lineup.

With the 2021 draft being considered a very weak draft, you won't get a premium by waiting a year for the picks. If anything the 2022, a draft thats looking to be among the strongest in recent memory, picks are worth more than 2021s.

While thats true to an extent, putting a rebuild a year further back isn;t always acceptable to fans or the organization. Especially for TDL rentals. As far as the 2021 its a perceived weak draft at the top, but alot of value beyond the first round.

However most of those deals arenl;t far off in value even in 2021 picks, except for the JVR trade, (but then NJ will be well into Hughes and Nico careers by the time those picks come up).

You are asking an awful lot for a rental on Scott Laughton, a guy who's never scored more than 40 points in a season. Comparables from last years deadline wouldn't get you a 2nd alone, not to mention the 3rd with it.

No way does NJ give up HALF of their 2023 draft class for a 32 year old JVR. Especially not giving them up to Philly. Hard pass.

Bruins have no interest in Gustaffson - Gryzelcyk and McAvoy are both better as pp QB's.

Gustaffson might be the worst defensive defenseman in the league and he isn't great offensively.

          Big - NO THANK YOU.

The Bruins are not trading for someone they could have signed as a FA.
