LOL was wondering how long it would take a Sens fan to create a Chabot roster, anyways going to have a hella expensive blueline when Karlsson, Chabot and Ceci need new deals and Phaneuf is making 7 still

Anyways he is a beast, could see him being a top defenseman in the NHL, just seemed to be so calm but so skilled both ways

Why is Methot exposed? Phanuef will waive his NMC.

I can't claim to know as much about Phanuef as a Leafs fan, but what incentive does he have? The Sens are playing really well and it's the same money either way. He get's protection in OTT too. If he goes to Vegas they'll try to put him on the top blue line. He doesn't want that! Less responsibility, winning, more fun, same money. I just don't see what's in it for him.

Phaneuf knows his contract won't be picked by Vegas so why not waive it to protect another good player and keep the D together. Plus even if he does his wife has Hollywood ties and Vegas is close enough. Just my thoughts.

The way Ceci is playing (4/5d) his contract won't be too expensive, Methot likely lost in expansion, and Chabot can be signed to a bridge while Phaneuf's contract comes to an end.

I don't think the Sens will have any issue, depending on the Sens internal budget that is.

Tax free Nevada, very enticing for SOME to make a few extra mil.

Solid point to think about, but that's state taxes. The US Fed actually hits up the rich more than the highest earners in Canada...35% vs 29% respectively. He'll have to find loopholes which is possible...AND...it won't actually be that much of a delta anyway since you pay state taxes in every state you play in. So that means each player could pay 24 states taxes every year because they "Earned" money in that state. Not 100% sure if that goes for Canadian players, but I'd bet it does.

Taxes, especially for high end players, taxes don't necessarily mean that much. Players are incorporated....tax rate in Canada is 15%, in USA 35%. So let's not compare what high end earners make compared to most mortals.

Phanuef: He had a modified NTC with 10 teams he could traded to. Don't know them all but I figure 3 in California, 2 in New York City. Ottawa was on the list because Phaneuf thought there was no possible way that the budget minded Sens would ever trade for him. He was apparently surprised and disappointed with the trade (at least initially). IMO, with Dion's low key approach, wife in California, would welcome to play in Vegas.
