Jets aren't going to part with Perfetti. I think for them Perfetti and Heinola are untouchable.

Rakell has been awful this year and is severely overpaid for what he provides. Montreal isn't giving you either of those pieces alone for him.

That Winnipeg trade is horrible for the Jets. We'd have to send them Tracey and the younger Perreault for them to just THINK about it.

Dollar for dollar, he's had a better year than Jonathan Drouin.

Rakell has more points and more goals on a far weaker offensive team, and costs less than 2/3 of what Drouin costs.

You know in your heart I'm right -- that's why your initial reaction was to agree with me.

Drouin's W.A.R is better, his G/60, A1/60, P1/60 are all better than Rakells. I agreed because I know Drouin has been "meh" this season, but Rakell has been downright awful.

Well, we have a different view about statistics. Rakell has one more point than Drouin in one more game and costs 2/3 (not "less than 2/3" -- my bad) of what Drouin costs, who is paid to be the best forward on his team. You can produce all of the artificial numbers you want, but the irrefutable bottom line is that 22>21, 7>2, and $3.8 million = 2/3 of $5.5 million (rounded off).

I have the feeling that if Montreal were to lose to Toronto in the first round, you'd say "But because the Habs gave up fewer shots, converted more high-quality scoring chances, scored on more breakaways, and were better on the power play and penalty kill, getting swept was an anomaly because Montreal was the better team." Statistics don't change the outcome; all they do is provide ammunition for discussion.

There's more to the game then just putting the puck into the net. That's such a blind way of looking at things, but you're allowed. Just don't say somebody is better than another when you have nothing to back it up. This is equivalent to saying Drouin is better than Rakell because Montreal is higher in the standings. There's more factors than just that one stat that you have to input into it.

"Nothing to back it up?" Goals and points are real statistics; analytics are artificial statistics. Yes, there's more to the game than just putting the puck into the net, but where winning is concerned, it's the only thing.

YOU're the one who immediately agreed with my initial statement, which was sharply qualified by the dollar-for-dollar condition, that Rakell has had a better year than Drouin, in large part because Drouin was expected and paid to have a much better year than Rakell. I think you should ask yourself why that was your reflexive reaction, and why you still haven't replied to my comment #13.

We are talking about the better player, we aren't factoring the money they make because that has nothing to do with their skill set. My argument that Drouin's /60 is better than Rakell's /60 negates anything you say about offense. Anything you say is your invalid opinion because there are stats that say otherwise.

Did you miss the FOUR times I said "dollar for dollar" (one of which you quoted in your initial agreement), or are you just being intellectually dishonest now? The whole point of my opinion was that it was based on economic value.

You’re using analytics so I just looked up their RAPM cards for 5v5 play this year.

Drouin: 92% xGF 30% xGA 4% finishing
Rakell: 74% xGF 61% xGA 8% finishing

Drouin better offensively but very bad defensively. Rakell good offensively and average defensively. Both struggle with finishing.
