Where's the pick and the prospect to ARZ in the Chychrun trade?

Why trade for Chychrun and then not have him on your roster? Why are the Habs dumping all their AHL talent for picks?

That Chychrun trade is horendous, Why would Arizona trade a Star like that for Plekenec?

Too many prospects on the AHL roster. I counted the d men and traded surplus away for picks to be gathered for something better down the road.

Did more research on J. Chychrun background and Arizona would never trade him away after drafting him 16th overall in last years draft. Plecky was good for many years but for whatever reason things are not producing for him. He is still a very smart player but too steep to pay $6 m per. Move him to create room on cap, get a pick and allow younger players to play more. Danault has impressed me.

When I counted the numbers of the AHL franschise there was too many players at certain positions. I decided to trade surplus away for draft picks. The gathered picks could then be used at later date should something interesting present itself. I now have cap space and extra draft picks.

Teams aren't trading for scrubs and giving up assets just to give Habs cap space. Scrub for scrub is OK but not these deals.

Both Col & NJ need d men. In Col case Habs are only getting a 4th round pick for a young d-man. For NJ I threw in an extra pick, so they are getting 2 for 1. CAR are weak up middle and DD is still fairly young and has another 3 to 5 yrs left in him. Because of his expiring contract you could make it a conditional pick should he re-sign. For CHI, the player Gregoire is not a massive appeal, it was the fact CHI had no 2nd round pick and Habs had extra, so it is a swap for 2nd rounders. Again, they get 2 for 1 deal. Returning to Col, Plecky should help out. He has another yr left and maybe Habs could retain a portion of his salary. Asking a 2nd round is not out of the question. He is in excellent shape, rarely misses games, still brings above avg skills on D side of puck. My goal was to move Plcky and DD and then once I counted all the players on both rosters I realized too many guys were on the AHL roster so I decided to try and move those ones for draft picks. Trying to stoock pile for something better down the road. I checked players that have moved in last 5 yrs for 2nd rounders and they are more common than we think. Not all of the trades worked out for both team mind you.

he is still only 30 and should get 3 to 5 yrs out of him. I was thinking a 2nd because Bergy got some 2nds when he trade some guys last year. A 7th is too low. You could make the trade conditional on DD re-signing. So, trade for a 4th and if he re-signs it turns into a 3rd or 2nd.
