For what kreider provides consistent 20-25 goals 50-55 points his contract is 100% movable that being said I don’t even want us to move him his most important quality to the team isn’t even what he does on the ice
So lets play this through. Let’s say a GM and his assistant are considering making a pitch for kreider in the off season.
GM: I want to go get Kreider.
Assistant: well, he’s 30. Last season wasn’t his best. He plays a style that typically breaks down around 30, and has a sharp decline.
GM: ya, but he brings what we need now!
Assistant: he’s signed for SIX more years at big money and the cap is flat.
GM: really? Who the heck gave him that deal? F that.
Rangers have to pay to get rid of kreider. No question. Teams don’t think about this year only. They think about the duration of the contract, and this is one that is really likely to get bought out.
I’m happy you don’t want the rangers to move him. You’ll get your wish because they won’t be able to.
