Though I see that as a fair deal my understanding is COL want an absurd amount for him so it's not enough unless they get a clue and understand he is just a serviceable top 6 winger with leadership ability.

Got to think that the price for him - or Duchene - hell, anyone else - is going to go down the closer we get the TDL. Right now there are a lot of teams who think they're in the playoffs who actually aren't and won't be. They'll be sellers, not buyers, and the more serviceable top 6 wingers and D men that are on the market, the less COL is gonna get.

You want Landy then Sergachev is definitely going the other way.

The price for Duchene and Landy won't go down much because the Avs really don't have to trade them. Unless Sakic gets the offer he's looking for, he won't pull the trigger. They're both under contract for another two and four years respectively, so there's no hurry. Landy could be moved at the deadline to a team that's looking to make a push, but Duchene will likely be moved at the draft, if at all, because the Avs would want to know that they got the #1 overall pick (which is obviously Nolan Patrick) before trading away a franchise center.

Well said. IMHO, I wouldn't trade either one of them if I'm Sakic. Both are still young and along with Mack are the core building blocks for this teams future for many years to come. I'd be looking to move other older pieces instead like Johnson, Varlamov and Soderberg. Not saying they are bad, just that I'd move those guys before the other 3 even if it meant getting less return. Plus I truly do believe Colorado although unfathomably bad this year, have enough building blocks, with the addition of this years pick like Patrick, to be a playoff team again soon. Write this year off, let the free agents go and trade some of the older players if possible and try again next year. Teams should only really rebuild when the avg age of the core players is approx 28 and older and they lay some stinker season in a row. See Vancouver, who should be rebuilding instead of trying to squeak into the playoffs like they're doing now.

Marco: You can't blame the Vancouver players for trying to win (and sneak into the playoffs). It's not like the Canucks are trading their future to upgrade now. Marco, you're right, the Avs can wait to make some big trades and it really doesn't matter for this season.
The trade proposal. It's not all that much...Juulsen and pick in the high twenties (maybe 31)
