Why that’s their performance till their age 25, which highlights what I said about rushing him to the NHL. It also allows you to fully compare the two goalies otherwise you’re comparing a 23 year old vs 25 year old and the 23 year old still is slightly better.

I’d agree with that Murray is the best comp you’ve provided thus far and our GM has already stated he’s retaining his picks and probably isn’t dumb enough to model a trade after that fiasco which I debated with Pen fans last year about.

Georgiev can't turn into a murray because you can cut ties after 1 year if you want to

So I minimize the cap dump contract but that still doesn’t answer why I’d model a trade after one that hasn’t aged well based on the regressed stats which is just like Geo. Murray had a great run twice with the Pens and then regressed. Geo had a good initial season and has regressed each year since which is odd considering the additions of Trouba + Fox on the backend. The value is close in your ACGM to the Murray trade (50 something overall pick) but doesn’t have the Stanley Cup experience, playoff performances, and slightly lower regular season stats.

Yzerman has repeatedly said he wants to get more picks and would only move them for a legit core piece. We can shine Georgiev only so much but he doesn’t fit that definition of a legit core piece.

All of this is why I’m questioning your thought process on comps and why it must be a second round pick.

It doesn't HAVE to be a 2nd from the wings, some other team would definitely pay that price for a potential starter which he certainly can be, also you can't have playoff success on a rebuilding team, but hes certainly capable of stealing a game or 2 if needed

Post 21 applies to any team. Murray returned pick 50 something and had slightly better regular season stats than Geo and 2 Stanley Cups where he had a good track record. Coupled that with the addition of requiring a buyout of ADA, I’d say @aedoran proposal of VGK 3rd is actually a good offer for the Rags. I personally wouldn’t do it but I can see the rationale behind where he/she is coming from.

A Deangelo buyout really doesn't impact your cap space at all

So then you buy him out

It'd have to be a 2nd, even if edmontons

Re-signing Bernier is a preferable option then.

Not with the expansion draft around the corner. Just hold out until you get the best deal possible from the Rangers or let them lose him to the Kracken. That is the difference this year, expansion. No one is going to pay full price for something the Rangers are not going to be able to protect in the draft, same applies to Columbus.

Shesterkin is exempt, so is Merzlikins for that matter
