I have watched almost every leafs game this year

Well I guess you don't know what you're watching then. To say Marner has been "above average at best" is false. He's relentless on defence and most of the time in the right position. Blocks shot, active stick to takeaway lanes, and is a big part of the Leafs defensive game.

Saying Marner is the problem for the power play because they've struggled for a little while is hilarious. That shows how little you watch. The issue has primarily been the entries. Marner isn't always the guy that carries it: Matthews, Rielly, Nylander, and Spezza are also guys that carry it in. That's a coaching issue for failing to adjust, that's on Keefe.

But sure, go ahead to say the guy that's tied for 3rd in league scoring is overrated. Btw, the guy he's tied with is Nathan MacKinnon who's actually worse at defensive play. But I don't see him on your list. Lmao.

A lot of players look relentless on defense, but do they actually limit scoring chances against? What type of scoring chances does he allow. Sure he is better defensively than most players that are as impactful as he is on offense, but relative to the entire NHL, he is not an elite defensive forward.

I am not saying he is the reason the powerplay sucks, I was just responding to the fact that you said the powerplay runs through him.

Also, Mackinnon has been an absolute beast this year, Marner plays on the PK, but Mackinnon is way better defensively at 5v5

Scheifele for the Jets. Media touts him as a 200 ft player and one sportsnet writer (Wiebe) says he is top 10 in the league. Scheifele is good at accumulating stats, but he is a 125 ft player and definitely not top 10.
