That's fair if LA declines based on needs but I am just arguing that the value is similar between the two.
Vilardi looks good but Brann outproduced him last season and theyre pretty even right now, so I would decline as Ottawa.

He's a 5'9 defenceman who was one of the youngest in his draft class, it will take him time to mature physicaly yet he only played 4 games in the AHL this season and 22 in the NHL.
Sanderson likely has more value at this point based on Turcotte's production after his draft but it could maybe be a decent trade based on how the two progress.

Brannstron was better at 19. He captained Sweden at the WJC-U20, leading his team in goals, and was named to the All star team (top 3 F, top 2 D). Turcotte did well at the WJC as well but not as good. In the AHL Brannstrom had 0.68 points per game (as a defenceman) while Turcotte had 0.56 points per game.

It's hard to say, Branstromm might have been better, yes.
But I'm more going off the fact that Branstromm hasn't really improved since his draft + 1 year.
Turcotte has a better draft pedigree and the benefit of the doubt (in other words he could improve in his draft+2 and 3 years unlike Branstromm).
It is closer than the kings fans on here think, but nonetheless, the value slightly favours the sens, simply because Turcotte has a better draft predigree and is younger. But it's the type of deal that, if it happened, could be a home run for LA. Just at the moment I would think Turcotte has more value than Branstromm if I had to say.

That's just not true lol Brann has outproduced him in every season. Clague is a year older and Brannstrom is outproducing him in the NHL right now. Brann had a 0.64 points per game in the AHL as a 19 year old (and 1.25 ppg this year) while Clague hasn't reached higher than 0.55 points per game in any of his seasons.

I've never heard of Anderson and couldnt find anything about him and calder votes but I'm glad you guys have a guy like that, definitely someone Ottawa could use.

Clague hasn't cracked the NHL roster yet, despite being the #1 defensive points producer in the AHL for Ontario for several seasons. That's my point. Points (or PPG) are not indicative of how good of a defenseman a player is or will be. Clague's defensive zone play still needs a lot of work and may never be at the level necessary for him to stick full time. Although if the Kings brought him up now, he'd probably be 1st or 2nd among Kings defensemen in points, but there would be a lot more defensive zone breakdowns and odd-man rushes against due to his poor defensive coverage.

You can tell me how great Brannstrom's point totals are all day long. That doesn't move the needle at all on how good of a defensemen I think he is or can be.

    NHL Trophy Tracker

Scroll down to Calder voting in the Honda West division. He's not going to beat out guys like Kaprizov or Robertson, but he's getting some votes.

I think it's pretty easy to say. The only thing Turcotte has is age and pedigree, but at the same age Brannstrom was doing better.
That's what I don't get. Brannstrom just keeps getting better every year. He has dominated the AHL last and this season. Turcotte on the other hand has regressed since his draft season.

The only reason Turcotte would have more value is his draft pedigree which is an awful reason to have more value lol

Draft pedigree alone would be a bad reason, yes, but has Branstromm really dominated the ahl? And why isn't he in the nhl (top 5 picks like Turcotte usually are by age 21). In 3 years it's possible that we will be saying Branstromm>Turcotte, but for the present if I'm a GM I'd take the younger option with a higher upside.

Right, because why would anyone give up a top 5 pick for a guy drafted at #5 overall and is now 2 years closer to being in the NHL?

    Counteroffer: Kupari for Sanderson

To your first point, no one is giving a top 5 pick this year for Turcotte because he hasn't performed the way you would hope a top 5 pick would up until now. So no, you're not getting a top 5 pick from anyone for Turcotte. Beniers, Power, Guenther, Clarke, Edvinsson, Hughes, Eklund, Wallstedt.... I don't think any team drafting those players will be willing to give them up for Turcotte 1 for 1. He hasnt excelled at Wisconsin, the world juniors or in the AHL and realistically he's already been passed by people drafted after him.

To your second point, Sanderson has excelled this past year, he was the best defenceman for the USA at the world juniors and the best defenceman on the #1 ranked team in the NCAA. Could've turned pro this year as well but decided to go back for another year. He's done everything you'd expect from a 5th overall pick and has proven he belongs in his draft slot.

I never said Brannstrom was equal value for Turcotte but a top 5 pick sure as hell isn't. Brannstrom + makes sense but only if the plus isn't something worth more than either of them lol
