The Oilers who are in the playoff mode aren't trading one of their centres for a cap dump, a junior and a pick which is four years away from being in the NHL.

Not right now but I think it could be a good trade in the summer if they want to move RNH.

Not necessarily palhal but I agree this trade probably isn't enough.

By the way Plekanec although not playing up to his contract, is not a cap dump. Bickell, Clarkson, Bolland, etc are cap dumps. Plekanec goes to any team in the league and improves it. (If cap space isn't a problem). On the ice, Plekanec doesn't hurt the team. Its only his salary that weighs his value down. Plekanec would replace the offense Nuge brings to a certain extent and would be way more responsible defensively. Only for 1 more year too. Juulsen is solid RH dman prospect. He's not far away from NHL ready either. Considering EDM could use a potential top 4 RH dman, Juulsen fits the bill. Sure the pick may be 4 years away but there is also a chance it doesn't take that long. David Pastrnak comes to mind.

Anyways I agree though, for Nuge I'd wait for something better.

But they are also getting a first round pick in this deal. Although it'll be a mid 20's pick most likely, and this draft class doesn't appear to be too strong, having two first round picks in the same draft is always a plus. Juulsen might be able to step into the lineup next year, and Plekanec isn't too much of a downgrade to RNH. Also, having Plekanec's contract expire after 17-18 is going to be important for them to give McDavid and Draisatl long term contracts.

If anything, I think Montreal is overpaying.

If Nuge comes to MTL and puts up 50-60+ pts seasons for the foreseeable future, are the Habs still overpaying?

Hey, whats the lotto Quebec winning numbers next year? Oh that's right, your not clairvoyant.....

The kid put up multiple 50 pt seasons in Edm on a bad team but can't do it on a strong MTL team? David Desharnais scored 60 points in a year but Nugent Hopkins? NEVER!!!!!!
