The Centerpiece of the dynasty

Initial Creation Date: May 2, 2021

Description
This is the players I think the habs should build around. If they rebuild, use this core group to make the fundation of a soon to be elite team.

1. Nick Suzuki: Zuk is only 21 and he seems to play like a vet. He had a rough patch this year but is currently on a hot streak. I see him being a elite top 6 player with a 70 pts potential

Kotkaniemi: Him and suzuki are gonna be our future center duo. Kotkaniemi is only 20yo so he still has a lot of time to develop. He's shown elite skills but need to be more consistent and be paired with steady good linemate. He's gonna be top 6 center with 60 pts potential

Caufield: Caufield is our little skilled sniper. He's gonna be sooo good for the habs. I see him as a first line winger with 40goal potential. I think he's that good and paired with playmakers like Zuk and KK its gonna be lethal.

Josh Anderson: Josh is a bit older but his type of player is sooo rare and so valuable for a team we need to keep him as long as possible. He can hit skate and score goals. The PowerHorse of this team.

Gallagher: The hearth of this team. Habs for life, next captain.

Evans: Jake is just so good and the perfect option for a fourth line center. He puts energy in every shift and can be suprising good. I love him as a bottom 6 player for the future.

Poehling: After a rough start last year in the AHL, Poehling is killing it this year. Give him time and I think he'll be the perfect offensive 3rd line center or 2cnd line winger.

Ylonen: Heavy shooter, gonna be a perfect second or third line scoring winger. Has some connection with KK

Romanov: he's so young and need to develop more before being an impactfull player. He still makes some error with the puck. However, he's a really good player and he can hit, shoot the puck, pass and skate well. I see him as a 30pts 2 way hard hitting defensemen.

Guhle: Guhle is a bit like romanov, skate well, hard shot and likes to hit. He's gonna be a top four defensemen for us. I see him as a 30 pts defensemen

Norlinder: Pure offensive defensemen. He's gonna be a top 2 elite offensive defensemen or nothing. He has skill but if they don't translate in the nhl Its gonna be har for him. i see him as a 40 pts defensemen or a ahl player.

Primeau: future starter, should play 50/50 with allen until he's ready.

Josh Anderson seems like the quintessential forest for the trees skillset player: yes he's unique and whatnot, but he's just pretty good and it's all about results

That contract is honestly terrifying

Flashes of "Davey Jones Locker" Clarkson there

Clarkson
30 goals at 27
15 goals 9 assists 24 points in 48 games at 28

Anderson
27 goals at 24
17 goals 7 assists 24 points in 48 games at 26

Likely a bit better but...

Great analysis but I think some of you point totals are a bit low. For example 18-19 KK had 34 points this year he is also on pace for 34 points (prorated). You are projecting that he will only improve his totals by 26 points but say he will be an elite center. I see him hitting a PPG in his prime years. Zuke is currently on pace for 55 points (prorated) even with the slump earlier in the year. But again your only projecting him to put up 20 more points a season in his prime?! That is dumbfounded, elite centers usually put up between 70-90 points in an 82 game season. 2nd line centers put up 60 points a year! I think both KK and Zuke will be PPG players in the next 1-3 years.

I hope you’re right. Its just to be realistic, but I can see KK and Zuk being ppg

He’s on pace for almost 30 goal. If he can put at least 20-30 goal for the next couple year + is physical size I think its worth the 5m. Also Anderson isn’t a lucic style of player he’s fast and he won’t get that slow over year. He’s a Tom Wilson/Tkachuk type of player and he’s exactly what the habs need

This screams I haven't been watching Anderson play this year. Anderson has been great for the Habs.... The major difference between Clarkson and Anderson is speed. Anderson is one of the fastest guys in the league, Clarkson could not keep up with the play as injuries finally derailed his career. As long as Anderson is healthy which is the trope with any player, he'll always be able to keep up with the play and excel. He's not a garbage goal scorer like Clarkson was, he generates his own chances with a great shot and speed.

-People who don't watch Habs games: What, only 7 assists. Pfffff Jason Spezza has more points.......... (Insert the longest and most exaggerated eye roll emoji here).

-People who watch Habs games: Anderson has literally been one of the Habs best players all year. Habs version of Tom Wilson. Minus the head hunting and dirty plays.
