Kulak wasn’t on waivers this year. Beside the Kings would get a decent 5-6 defensemen and cheap. They are full of young guns coming in, they don’t risk anything with that pick.

I think price for Danault is reasonable, but Tatar is not likely to take a cut in pay, somewhere between 5.5 and 6 would be my guess, MTL should definitely be wary of increase much from 5.5, though.

I think you slot Suzuki as #1 next year, with Toffoli on RW, Danault and Gallagher start as second line and we hope Kotkaniemi and Anderson overtakes them as the season goes along. Those are all C+RW in my mind, and then Tatar, Armia, Lehkonen, and Byron all interchangeable on the left side. Caulfield could also work his way up and down the right side this way.

That Dunn offer is a joke, right? For every conceivable reason, no.

Plenty of players come out of the middle rounds including Brett Kulak in the 4th, or Brendan Gallagher for the Habs in the 5th. The point is, why would teams give up an asset when the ENTIRE league passed on the player for free?

The Kings already have Olli Maata as a reclamation project who was free, no more bubble guys.

The point is, plenty of players got passed up on this year due to the simple fact there was a major cap crunch and covid cash strapping a lot of teams financially. Look around the league, teams hand out late 4-7th rounders all the time for guys like this to add to their depth. Just because you don't like the idea of moving a ~10% chance of an nhl player , doesn't mean teams feel the same.

Kings don’t need depth they need a top line LD. Not someone who is playing less minutes and looking closer to a bubble player. This is a cap dump.

Whether it is or it isn't, a 5th rounder is the going rate - like it or not. And the Kings need a lot of things. That of which you will not be finding/fixing all with one 5th rounder, so I wld stop worrying so much about smtg so inconsequential

By all means, if the Habs can get a 5th rounder for Brett Kulak they should, but the Kings can't do it. Bjorfoot and Andersen have graduated and Clague needs ice time ASAP, this also doesn't include that the Kings already have Maata and Wolanin. So I don't see the Kings in a rush to get yet another 5-6 bottom pair defenseman.

Just like if the Kings could get a 5th for Maata they should. I think it's more likely both Kulak and Maata head to waivers next season, and I'm 50/50 that they would clear with cheaper free agency options.

Who do you think the kings are protecting? I wld suspect one of either Maatta Wolanin or Clague will be selected by SEA, unless they grab quick instead?

We think it’s Clague, but him not playing very much at the NHL level might make it one of: Lizotte, Moore, Grundstrom, or Andersson depending on which forwards are protected. Don’t think they go after Wolanin at all, Maata also highly unlikely unless he looks insanely good to close out the season.

JUST for starters, the Blues have no cap for that. That ends it right there. I could go on with a laundry list of obvious reasons, but there's no need. NOBODY is paying for Drouin right now. How anyone could imagine otherwise is beyond me.
