Description

Take advantage of Was risk of losing either Vanacek or Samsonov to get a young star goalie, resign Smith who could be a back-up or starter if he stays consistent. Spend a lot going after the right UFA winger, might be other options if he doesn't want to leave Col. Resign some depth, let Barrie he isn't needed unless he's still cheap with Klefbom returning, Nurse breakout, and Bouchard growing. Caleb Jones is my guess to go to Vegas. If they can find a good deal for Koskinen, Turris, or Neal they may have enough to make another big UFA splash, ideally a strong 3C who can kill penalties, right now they're top players could use a dependable player to give them a break there.

Caps probably say yes. But yeah, a bit low on the Yamamoto- and Larsson-contracts and Landeskog probably won't be available in FA.

Yam's number is $2.5-3.5 on a bridge and Larsson will be +/- $4mil. There goes your cap space to poach Landeskog. I think the OIlers re-up Stalock/Smith and re-evaluate the goalie situation next summer when Koskinen's contract is up. I don't think a 2nd needs to be spent... it's a buyers market with inability to protect back-ups in the expansion draft.
