possible deadline (CHI, NSH, LAK, CBJ)

Description
nothing too crazy here. I don't think they deal Green. He could definitely get their best return but, even if we miss the playoffs this year, Holland is going to try to make them next year; not go full fire sale. Green helps us win next year so I bet he keeps him. If Green is going to be moved, it'll be at the deadline next year.

CHI: this is the big deal here. I think it's plausible. max retention on Vanek to make the cap numbers work (assuming CHI makes other deals by the deadline to get a bit more room). DeBrincat is a good prospect but Vanek is basically a point per game player on a team that is struggling to score. He's going to be cheap (cap wise), productive, and one of the best options at the deadline. I think this is reasonable. If I'm CHI, this offer at least gives me pause compared with the asking price and cap hits for the likes of JVR, Landeskog, etc...Vanek is by far the most attractive option.

NSH: looking for defensive depth...idk? are they? someone will be so maybe not NSH here but looking for a B/B- prospect and a middle pick for Smith is fair.
Trades
1.
DET
  1. DeBrincat, Alex
  2. 2017 3rd round pick (CHI)
CHI
  1. Vanek, Thomas ($1,300,000 retained)
2.
DET
  1. Allard, Frédéric
  2. 2018 4th round pick (NSH)
NSH
  1. Smith, Brendan ($1,000,000 retained)
3.
DET
  1. 2018 5th round pick (LAK)
LAK
  1. Ott, Steve
Additional Details:
Doesn't have to be LAK but if Holland can get a 6th for Kindl then this should be possible. You know at least one team will want a veteran, locker room guy for down the stretch. And a 5th is basically valueless. More about the principle of managing assets here.
4.
DET
  1. 2017 4th round pick (CBJ)
CBJ
  1. Miller, Drew
Additional Details:
Same as Ott trade only Miller is slightly better than Ott. Doesn't have to be CBJ but someone is going to want to "tighten up their penalty kill" and that's what Miller is known for so.....

We will see if Kenny has learned anything, my hope is that he has and asks Green to be moved this year and gets it done. Look at the roster, he will have Marchenko, Sproul, Jensen, and Russo "ready" for the right side next year. Are any of them a better choice than Green? No but they are there, he needs to move people out. Chances are he is going to have GR kids up front who are ready next year whether he wants them or not, that is why he needs to move Nyquist and Tatar out. We will see what happens.

Hawks can't afford to trade Debrincat for a rental. Given all their cap issues, Debrincat may have to step into the lineup before he's NHL ready

DeBrincat is pretty close to NHL ready as is plus Vanek isn't a good fit for the hawks style.
