How would this work

Description
In this ACGM: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/447697/1 we were discussing about how Fox could win the Norris and he'll have a huge pay day. Fox would get 8M+ and could be pushing 9-10M. If this happens, the Rangers could be screwed with cap space. Kreider and Trouba are impossible to trade with their NMC and huge contracts. How can the Rangers free up cap space for next offseason and improve their center depth?

Trade Buchnevich for a young center on an ELC? If Kravtsov is the real deal or if you can move one of Laf, Panarin or Kreider to RW, the wing depth in the top 6 should be okay.

Or work with Kreider/Trouba to find a deal they'd take? Easier said than done obviously

Or we bridge Fox and most of the guys anyway and let Mika go. Prolly trade Buch and deal with the miserable center depth we’ve got.

I think Trouba might get bought out if Schneider shows enough promise. Definitely a handful of years in debt to pay off, but the cap should go up before his buyout becomes negative value (after his normal contract would expire). Chytil, Kravtsov, and Miller are probably on the table to get moved by then too.

I think Buch will be the odd man out but finding an NHL ready center on ELC is going to be very difficult.

Bridge might be even more risky. If Fox gets better, he's going to cost way more.

Pretty good idea.

But the center and LHD depth needs to be fixed (if Miller and Chytil get moved)

4 years. So it will go up after 2023-24 season.

Lucky for us he likely won’t win and we have next season to continue for him to prove the contract but they can go bridge which will prob be when some contracts are up or are tradable anyways. But it’s a good problem to have. Like someone else said as a joke a CBO would be huge but I think we’ll be able to trade one of or both of Kreider and troubas contracts in a couple years

The good part for the Rangers is that Fox won't leave because he was a rangers fan growing up. So you could get him on a bridge deal to save money. However the Trouba and Kreider contracts are almost unmoveable. Especially the Trouba contract. Their NMCs make it impossible. They won't waive to a rebuilding team like Detroit, Ottawa, etc

Yea but I’m 2-3 years their nmc open up a bit

I just checked and it opens up in 2024-25.

How much faith do you have in your new GM because I know nothing about him
