I think these are some of the things SJS needs to do to get back into the playoffs and compete for the cup.

Step 1: Buy out Vlasic and Jones. The total cost would be 3.5m/year for at least 6 years.
This frees up 9.25m in capspace.

Step 2: Get rid of Burns. Between him and Karlsson, Burns will be easier to move. Less term and AAV. If you give Seattle some good prospects, picks and a good middle-6 forward in Labanc i think they could be willing to take Burns. That frees up another 12,675m in capspace.

Step 3: Resign some of the RFA:s and UFA:s. Balcers and Barbanov have played well, and both could be signed to cheap contracts for the next 2-3 years.

Step 4: Sign good complementary players and depth players, such as Armia, Ian Cole and Forbort. They are all good defensively. Either Cole or Forbort can pair with EK65 to decrease the amount of goals SJS concede while he´s on the ice.

Step 5: Sign players who had down years. I picked Gusev, Gustafsson and Andersen. Either of these three players could bust or thrive. They are all only signed to 1-2 year deals, which gives the Sharks an opportunity to either compete and let them go, resign them or just trade them.

Step 5: Do not max out capspace. SJS have a lot of free agents to resign in 2022, such as Hertl, Ferraro and Knyzhov.
