Just a few names to think about.
With first pick, we can pick #1, #2, #4, #5, or #6. I would rank the top-six guys (for the Devils) as such.
1. Owen Power (LHD): Big, mobile d-man with shot that hits target; could become #1
2t. Luke Hughes (LHD): Jack's brother; offensive LHD; Elite skating; Could become #1
2t. Brandt Clarke (RHD): Graeme's brother; offensive RHD, plays similar to, and would eventually replace, Subban
2t. Simon Edvinsson (LHD): Big two-way LHD, high IQ, more toughness
5. Dylan Guenther (RW): High-end skill and scoring instinct
6. William Eklund (LW): Holtz line-mate at Djurgardens, can appear lazy at times
(also possible - Beniers, Lucius, Lysell)
For the second 1st pick (Islanders), currently pick #21, guys I would consider
12. Carson Lambos (LHD): he could fall here due to injury, but I doubt it
13. Corson Ceulemans (RHD): Also doubtful he falls
16. Oskar Olausson (RW): Big, scoring power forward, could add some offense to 3rd line
17. Matt Coronato (LW): High energy; high IQ; plays chippy style; could be 3rd piece on top-line
18. Cole Sillinger (C/W): Not fast, but plenty of skill, great shot
21. Mackie Samoskevich (RW): Elite offense; could play at Hughes/Bratt speed.
23. Zachary L'Heureux (C/W): Hot-tempered power forward that could center 3rd line and be a pest
26. Stanislav Svozil (LHD): Steady defensive presence, could be second-pair LHD with offensive RHD
27. Scott Morrow (RHD): Elite offensively; highly competitive; great passing up-the-middle (a righty, so good for lefty C); would need stay-at-home partner; Kris Letang type
28. Samu Tuomaala (RW): Excellent goal-scorer; great off-the-puck; could play well with puck-possessing center
For 2nd round pick (~50-55 overall):
Henry Nelson (LHD): Offensive d-man from Maple Grove High School. Upside matches any d-man in draft.
Aidan Hreschuk (LHD): Was Luke's partner, great puck-moving ability; still plenty of holes to fix at BC.
Anton Olsson, Kirill Kirsanov, Evan Nause (LHD): All steady, reliable defensive, d-man
Roman Schmidt (RHD): Big, strong, responsible stay-at-home d-man
Logan Mailloux (RHD): Big, fast, two-way; big shot, underscouted
Aryton Martino (LW): Run-and-gun winger; more of playmaker, less of goal-scorer
Matvei Petrov (LW): Flashy, goal-scoring winger; plays fast in transition; can play at Hughes, Bratt speed.
Ville Koivunen (RW): Shoot-first, creative winger; probably a few years away
Oliver Nadeau (RW): Power forward; plays in hard areas; candidate for Bastian's spot if he goes in expansion draft
William Stromgren (LW): Big, heavy shot; Tall, but needs to fill out; high upside with goal scoring ability
For 3rd - 4th round
Ryan Ufko (RHD): Competitive, two-way...like a Brandt Clarke-lite
Ethan Del Mastro (LHD): Big, defensive; Minor teammate of Luke
Aleksi Heimosalmi (RHD): Mobile, offensive; fast riser after u18s
Owen Zellweger (LHD): Smaller d-man, good for possession style
Jack Bar (RHD): Some offensive, but reliable in own zone and on breakouts
Oscar Plandowski (RHD): Offensive RHD with high-end skating and puck-moving ability
Shai Buium (LHD): Big, offensively skilled, but skating and decision making holes
Jack Matier (RHD): Big, two-way, steady d-man
Chase Stillman (RW): High IQ, high motor, bottom-six, Blake Coleman-type
Prokhor Poltapov (LW): Elite skill and touch on puck; could be scoring piece to 3rd line
Tyler Boucher (RW): Some skill, great forechecking ability; bottom-six grit/skill package; ceiling is David Clarkson
Kyle Kuokkonen (C): Highly skilled, puck-controlling forward also from Maple Grove HS. Small, very high upside.
Victor Stjernborg (LW/C): Steady, sturdy, middle-six, can distribute puck well
Matvei Averochkin (C): Big, physical center who can shoot. Bobby Holik type.
