Most likely. Yes. Van needs RD and has a lot of expensive bottom six forwards.

We did this couple hours ago, absolutley not on Kuzy. Hes not providing a significant upgrade over Strome and hes irresponsible. Rangers end up in the same position they were in this year with a one dimensional center that cant win faceoffs, isnt physical and doesnt play defense.

Is Washington actually considering to trade Kuznetsov? Noticed his name appearing a lot more often but I always assumed he wouldn’t go anywhere

My big worry at first was cap space but in the '22 offseason most of their buyout cap space opens up, and with Smith, Johnson, and Sutter deals expiring, they suddenly have 18M to give raises to Lindgren, Shesterkin and Buchnevich, and and add a 3R, a 3RD, and a healthy scratch. I think they can bring up Schneider and Kravtsov and stay competitive with over 8M of cap space open for the next summer, when they give big contracts to Kakko and Fox, and pick one of Zibanejad/Strome to keep. Planning more than three years out is too optimistic for a league with so many injuries and changes.

Oh, you were serious about that? Difference is only about 30 points a year, but I responded to your hyperbolic comments by letting the Rangers keep Strome. Brought up three of the toughest guys in the Rangers' system and traded for Sutter to address team defense and toughness. One guy doesn't have to do everything, and none of the other 1C's available is going to put up 100 hits or two fights next year, either. Kuznetsov's Corsi is ahead of Panarin's or Buchnevich's this year, in spite of his defensive flaws, and he'd help them each score more points than Strome can.

They shouldn't. He's amazing. He's led them in points for two seasons and a Cup run. But the coach benched Vrana two or three times and then they traded Vrana. The coach suspended Kuznetsov for being late to a team meeting. So if nothing changes, it's possible they might trade Kuznetsov.

But I think with another solid playoff run he can still easily make friends with Laviolette, and I hope it works out for them.

Defensive flaws and lack of physicality is exactly the reason why the Rangers are in the position theyre in. The Rangers do not have any issues scoring. Which is why I would much rather have Hertl over Kuzy. Its also not a matter of keeping Strome, its a matter of bringing in the right players to make this team more complete and difficult to play against.

Kuzy is not a fit, with his drug history and overall crappy attitude. Not someone we need around our young guys.

Before they were #1 centers, Kuznetsov had a 73 hit season and Hertl got up as high as 103. Now they don't do that.

Hertl eats some defensive minutes, but not as many as Carl Hagelin, whom some Caps fans want to dump for nothing to make cap space even though he's their best penalty killer still.

The main thing Hertl and Kuznetsov do is score points. Hertl has one season over fifty points. Strome has one. Kuznetsov has five. And if you think you can get Hertl for anything close to the above, by all means, post it on the Sharks side. I'll wait right here for you.

Been there, done that. Sharks fans themselves have said they'd be happy with Chytil and a mid-range pick for Hertl.

You gotta remember, Hertl is going into the final year of his contract. Hertl is in total control of his destiny. No one will trade for Hertl without his guarantee that he will resign with the team. All of this taking all the leverage away from the Sharks.

As far as Hertl's point production... well, you gotta remember, for the first 4-5 years of his career he was stuck behind Thornton/Pavelski/Couture on the depth chart. Since Thornton and Pavelski have left, over the last 3 years Hertl is averaging 0.88/ppg.

Hey, if he's your guy, he's your guy. I'm not gonna change your mind. Hope his extension is less than 7x7, but wouldn't be surprised to see him get a little more than that if he hits the market after a strong contract year. Even so, it'll only go through his age 35-36 season. Should be fine. And hey, if he's ever been late to a team meeting, his coach didn't mention it. So that's good.

There is no way Canucks take the PR disaster that is Tony DeAngelo when they're already dealing with Virtanen, even in desperate need of a RHD.

Caps aren't trading kuzy unless they get back a center that is as likely to help them win. Total value of chytil + a first is probably good, but they're not looking for futures and chytil is not a 2c either for the present or the future

I agree, but I think Lars Eller is a #2C, and there will be #3C's available in UFA this summer. Chytil is a middle six wing with some upside who can kind of play center. Kuznetsov is a #1 center whose coach won't play him.

Okay. Put the pick on the other side? What is the return that gets Deangelo off NYR's roster without them having to put one more buyout cap hit on their list?
