Hypothetical scenario if Suter waives

Description
I know, I know, Ryan Suter probably isn't gonna waive his NMC, even less likely he does it for Van. Minni has 3 Dmen on NMCs, and Dumba is not one of them, so either they'll have to trade him, or find a way to get rid of an NMC. The other two aren't leaving anytime soon, but Suter seems like someone who they could trade. Vancouver needs a shutdown Defenseman, and Suter fits the job description. If he retires, the Wild will take most of the penalty. We also lose Myers.

As for the signings, Simmonds can become the net-front presence we're missing. He joins the Lotto line for PP1, and Rathbone takes the role as top Quarterback. Hughes joins Horvat, Hoglander, Pearson, and Podkolzin on PP2. PP1 will be one of the best units in the league. Foligno contributes offensively and defensively, and the third line will be a 2 way line used to counter aggressive opponents. Savard is a solid defenseman who can PK. I think this team is easily playoff Calibre. But I'm generally curious on how people think this trade works for Vancouver

Suter sure isn't waiving his NMC for Vancouver, He's from Madison, Wisconsin and his wife from Minnesota. Noway he's waiving for Vancouver. And since there's no taxi squad next season you're technically over the cap with that lineup.

Put the taxi squaders into the AHL. And ik Suter isnt waiving. It's just a what if. This whole thread is hypothetical.

Even if he waived, I don't think the pros you've outlined for Minnesota are worth it. The difference in play is so different you'd need more assets even in the hypothetical and not realistic waiving of the NMC. They're not giving away that experience and skill while they're competitive. Maybe 2-3 years from now when he's declining, but I would say Duncan Keith is a comparable, who could likely be a good roster player until he's 39-40. Dumba is the cap they should be trying to ship out imo because he's easier to move

Even if hypothetically Suter were to waive for Vancouver, You've both Hughes and Pettersson likely to get bridge deals in the neighborhood of 3 x $7,000,000 each. Plus rumors of heavily linking Reinhart to Vancouver as well since that's home. So you're talking about another $6,500,000 to $7,000,000 per long term. So you're basically adding $28,500,000 between those 4 players and Vancouver has only about $15,500,000 to spend this summer. So who are you going to move to fit those contracts in?

So you get the better player, & wild get a really bad player, & contract

So absolutely not. Wild d is still very important to what they do. Wild don't want a player like Tyler Myers whose beyond bad defensively, & would be benched very easily

No offense but your reasoning is just not living in reality/ or being realistic

No, Minnesota doesn't accept because they aren't dumb. Doesn't matter anyway because Sutter will never ever waive in a million years

I guess playing NHL live or whatever is on XBOX now can bring of A Dream

I think if Savard was willing to sign for $2,75m then the Canucks should take that, pair him with Hughes and run. The Suter idea is not going to happen.

I don't think Minnesota would want to crystallize Suter's retirement recapture. If he retires early it would be a $20 million penalty in total (max is $7.538 million a year until the balance is run off) and they'd still have to pay Myers. From a retirement recapture standpoint, this offseason is the worst season to trade Suter.
