Duchene Trade

Created by: Latowsky
Team: 2016-17 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 19, 2017
Published: Jan. 19, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- Solidifying the top 6 with our surplus of back-end talent and a few picks.

-Getting Fleury to bridge for Stolarz/Sandstrom/Lyon for a rental D-man the Pens need due to injuries, which also allows them to protect Matt Murray.

-3rd trade is just stockpiling picks, while Mason goes to Dallas where his goalie coach from CBJ is and played much better.

- Sending down Nick Schultz and Andy MacDonald while calling up Sanheim/Morin puts a youth movement they reeeeeeeally need in Philly. (This won't happen this year obviously but a fan can dream)

I can see Fleury happening, but the price will have to be more enticing than that, especially because it's the Penguins.

I'm ok with the package for Duchene, but I would swap Hart for Stolarz and Myers for Haag. Both are closer to the NHL (with Stolarz getting some games in) I think that would be more enticing to them because they are more NHL ready.

I do generally like these moves though

If you think Fleury is better than Mason then you need to become a Penguins fan.

I was going to put Sandstrom instead of Hart, but I couldn't find him, only realized now you can create players lmao. I put them in because of their higher ceiling and I don't think the Av's make a deal without 2 stud prospects. Trust me, it hurt to put Phillipe and Hart in. The Fleury deal could definitely be sweetened but I lowballed it haha.

I'd say he's a slight upgrade and I only want to take him because he has 2 years left so that gives Stolarz another year in the minors to grow.

Stolarz has played 2 or 3 games. We do not know if he can be a starter in the NHL. Mason is a good goalie. Put him on a 4 year deal which will give Stolarz a couple years as a backup and he will only be 26 when that 4 year deal is over.

I doubt COL has any interest in Hagg. My guess would be they would ask for Ghost, Provorov, Sanheim, and Myers. Obviously Provorov is out of the question but the others should be considered if that would even be enough. I don't like the idea of dealing Hart right now but I would understand it - especially with Sandstrom and Lyon performing pretty well.

I don't like the idea of a four year deal for Mase. Somewhere between 2-3 is ideal.

I don't think Mason has put enough confidence in Hextall or anybody really to warrant a 4 year deal. I'd say another 2 year deal at max is what he'd get from us. I know he's a good goalie, he's just unfortunate enough to play in behind the worst defensive team in the league.

Partially his fault too, he lets in more than his fair share of muffins. Like against Washington last year in the playoffs.

I agree he lets in some softies but maybe it's him being tired. Against Washington last year he basically played 25 straight coming into the playoffs when Neuvy was down. Same thing this year while Neuvy was down, we also went on a 10 game winning streak during that time.

I understand where you're coming from. Personally, I think we'd be fine cause I think he'd resign but I also wouldn't be mad at trading him for a few picks. Kind of a win-win.

Come on guys now.....Avs are the worst defensive team in the league, the home team defensive zone at the Pepsi Center is known as the sieve. Vary and Picks have shell shock! Yours may be worst in the East but I doubt that too. As for the trade....have to be honest I'm not well enough up on the Bullies' prospects to say, but a lot depends on if Joe is thinking full rebuild (in which case it's trade over half the team and lose for another 5 or 6 years) or stem the tide and retool. Most Avs fans don't seem to have much of a clue what is happening with the team right now.

Hexy isn't going to trade prospects for developed players. By trading Myers and Hart, along with a 1st and 3rd, we are giving up a lot of prospects for a player that comes at a price.
The MAF deal wouldn't go through because we dont have the cap to trade for him, and why would we to allow the Pens to protect Murray?
