At first glance it's a bad trade for Washington but it's a start if they are going to do a rebuild. Pens would win a few cups ovi would def get a cup.

Pens wouldn't do it. I think something more like this would be fair:

Ovechkin for Maatta/Pouliot/Fehr

Maybe a 5th round pick to round it out either way

You guys have got to be kidding me I'm an oiler fan an the only way you'd get ovi out of Washington if you over them a good play in let's say sheary + 2 or 3 first round picks

Don't act as if though ovechkin value has dropped the guy is an elite goal scorer I'd give up Ebs 2 first round draft picks an a second round for him

This is hilarious...ly awful. It's insulting for the Caps and they would block your number. They don't want a bunch of dimes for your dollar... and it looks like you've shorted them quite a bit.

The Caps are looking like contenders this year so please tell me why they do this? They are not rebuilding, actually exactly the opposite, so this doesn't make sense. If they were going to trade Ovi, which will never happen, don't you think another team would offer up a better package? The best player in there is... Maata? Who barely looks like an NHL player. Get real

I'd say sheary is the best player in there but like I said if the caps don't win a cup in a couple years an his decided to chase for it (oilers are promising in the next two three years) I would literally give up two or three first round picks plus a good prospect for him

As a known contender the value of your 1st round pick really drops off. It's almost 50/50 at that point your guy is going to end up as an NHL regular and they typically take a long time to develop. They are decent trade bait for deadline deals or to try and move up in a draft, but no team is going to give up their superstar for 3 50/50 shots at an NHL regular.
