Wild - hunt for a 1C

Description
Couple of things I'm iffy on here that i'd like some feedback on:

1) Not sure on Nolan Patrick value / contract.
2) Does Seattle agree to that (assuming Zach waives)?
3) Does RNH get 7M+?
4) 3rd line is young and lacks vet presence. Fiala needs help, but he can also be an individualistic player and I'm not sure it's fair for anyone to put 2 rookies together on that line.
5) Mennell seems ready to jump to the NHL after his season in the KHL. Minny should figure out a trade, if he doesn't fit here long term, as he does carry value. I wanted to do something with him, but couldn't find a solution.

I like Nuge, but it seems the current consensus on him is that he's better as a winger, not really a center anymore - so I don't think he's probably not the answer. Also, like the idea of bringing Cole back, but I think he'll cost a little more than that.

That's fair. I think Nuge would do well in Minnesota, and especially playing with a guy like Kap, but if he's really more of a winger these days, then you're probably right that it's not a fit. Good call on Cole. I had a feeling I was light on that. Do you think 2.1M or so gets it done, or does it probably need to match Soucys hit?

I know - that felt a little unrealistic to me too, but something has to give with this whole Parise situation. Clearly something else is going on behind closed doors, and there's just no way it continues like this for another 4 years.

Hahaha, I probably could have phrased that a bit better.

Honestly I think Nolan Patrick's current value is one of the most nebulous value situations in hockey history no exaggeration it's kinda bonkers so idk tbh 🤕

So many weird important variables

At such a nebulous time in his career

Also not a 1st liner tho either

It's odd that so few here find it even a bit coincidental that RNH 'improved' exactly when McDraisaitl went from 170 pts a year to 230+ pts a year like gosh 😐

All indications suggest he's still the same 50 pt 2C/LW

Yeah he's a tough one - I don't watch enough of Philly to have a good sense on what's going on with his game, but it's such a weird situation. From what I've gathered, it's likely that he's wanting out.

Yeah I personally don't view him as a true 1C, but the Wild are currently running Victor Rask with Zucc and Kap. Getting a top line center is ridiculously difficult, so the idea behind this is to acquire someone capable of keeping up with Kaprizov, but not selling the farm/future for a bona fide 1C. Ek would be good enough to play up with them, but I don't think it's smart to split up the Greenway-Ek-Foligno, so you really need to go shopping for a suitable center. It's less about finding a guy that's truly a 1C, and more about finding someone that can center Kap/Zucc while maintaining the depth of the lineup.

That Seattle deal would be illegal. They would have to take Parise's full contract. We could only retain money on a player who is going there as part of a trade. Since Parise is the only expansion eligible piece, he would be considered their expansion pick meaning they select the full contract. There would have to be another expansion eligible player going to Seattle if we wanted Zach to go there at 50% retained. Beckman and a pick would not be sufficient since neither are eligible to be selected as an expansion pick.

Ahh ok thank you. I honestly didn't know that, but I appreciate the info/education.
