Description

Immediately announce that Dave Tippet will remain HC but that changes are coming to his staff and the rest of the team

Meet with Connor McDavid to stress that you will be making some significant changes and that you will dress a far more competitive team. Seek his insight into next steps and review players with him directly

Review all staff and begin search to replace top executives- create new positions to bolster the front office that has long been an “old boys club”. Tell the media that you will be “progressive and thoughtful with all upcoming decisions

Hire Kevin Weeks to be Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations- task him with filling out the Hockey Operational staff-

Hire Meghan Chayka as Assistant GM - Director of Analytics- task her with filling out her staff

Hire Florence Schelling as Assistant GM- GM of Bakersfield Condors- task her with filling out her own staff

Hire Jack Han as Special Assistant to the GM- Director of Video Scouting- task him with filling out the Video staff

Hire- Scott Pellerin as Director of Amateur Scouting, Director of Player Relations- task him with reviewing and hiring all scouting staff at minor levels

Hire Dusty Imoo as Director of Goaltending- task him with hiring goaltending staff and a new goalie coach

Move within the Organization - Tyler Wright named as Director of Pro Scouting

Move within the Organization- Keith Gretzky will remain Assistant GM, but be reassigned to Hockey Business Operations, will evaluate all Sales and Promotional staff and fill out the positions accordingly

Assistant GM- Bill Scott will remain Director of Salary Cap Management and Advisor to the President

Special Advisor to the HC Ken Hitchcock will remain

All other Top Executives will be fired immediately along with most of the Scouting staff and Sales, Promotional and Marketing staff

Hire outside Accounting firm to review all Front Office spending and allocation of resources and money, present a full review to Board members and Front office

New Assistant Coaches to Dave Tippet named-

Glen Gulutzan will remain Assistant Coach

Ask Ottawa Senators permission to offer Troy Mann a contract- Troy Mann named Assistant coach

Jim Playfair will remain Assistant Coach

Dwayne Roloson named Goalie Coach

I like a lot of what you've done here, but 5x6.5m for Freddie is not the answer...

I agree with most of what you wrote out, but I'm not really gonna get into your moves although they aren't terrible.

But I think in order for Edmonton to be a serious contender, they need to find a way to separate McDavid and Draisaitl and still have Draisaitl perform because this season he didn't produce much without McDavid. True contenders have at least 2 top centres. You look at teams that have won like Tampa, St.Louis, Pittsburgh, Washington, or even top teams this season like Toronto or Winnipeg and they're all deep down the middle. Edmonton isn't. If McDavid isn't playing with Draisaitl then here is no offence. Split them up and find them wingers and things will change in a massive way.

I had Danault on my armchair GM team also. He's exactly what the Oilers need: defensive, face-offs, and available via UFA. I'm sure Montreal will try really hard to keep him and I have a feeling he will go for at least $6M
