Do this now so we can sign Pulock as an UFA

Created by: Wpgman
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: May 26, 2021
Published: May 26, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Ristolainen for 1 year. Get some cap space open for Pulock if he becomes an UFA for the year after.
I don't think Copp wants to resign here.
I find it hard to find a place for 4 LHD when there is only 3 spots. Does Samberg flip to RHD?

If you just look at the trade then yes it favors Philly but you open a space on the 3rd line for an UFA like Armia. The way I look at it is- Copp for Armia and Patrick.

That's fine and all, but the Jets should be able to get more for Copp and shouldn't trade him for a forward they don't need and to make room for another forward they don't need. If they move Copp it should be for top 4 defensive help, better than Ristolainen.

If Patrick had shown any signs of being more than a below average bottom sixer I could see it, but this is giving up a very good, very valuable asset for a hope and a prayer.

At face value maybe but we only have 1 yr left of Copp. We wouldn’t get a 1st for him, maybe an A prospect but def not a blue chipper. Falling back to Patrick could pay huge dividends if he can pull it together both in potential as well as years of control.
Unless Chevy plans on packaging Copp with a 1st and other assets for a top D man, or has a deal with Seattle, I don’t mind this deal. This is all based on Copp NOT wanting to re-sign here, if he is willing to sign here again, Copps value is much higher than Patrick’s

And that is the absolute most I would pay for Risto, but if we lose DeMelo, he may be a stopgap until 22’ offseason when a lot more RHD hit free agency.

I agree that Copp unsigned, doesn't have huge value, but it is still more than Patrick. I know lots of fans get excited because "he's from Winnipeg", but who cares where they're from. I just want them to be good at hockey, I couldn't care less that he's from Winnipeg. I'd rather trade Copp for picks, if we can't get a player we need, than trade him for such a high risk player that isn't a team need. There's are far better chance the Jets lose this trade by a huge margin than there is of even breaking even on it.

This is the kind of trade you only make if you have exhausted all opportunities that actually help the team and this is all you can get.

If WPG can get a TOP 4 RHD either a future like Schneider from the Rangers or an established one then I am all for it. I just don't see this happening.

Patrick is still young (22), a second overall pick which had 2 decent seasons to start off his career, and has seems to recovered from his injury. He could step in with Lowry and Appleton as he is an all-around player.

Agreed Copp is good but he just does not fit into the top 6. Makes WPG's 3rd line one of the best in the league but he is going to cost which would be too much for the 3rd line.

I tried the ole’ Copp/1st for Schneider/3rd and Rags fans are a consensus and collective NO! Many expect him to be the next captain and second coming of McJesus in defence form. I didn’t have the nerve to tell them that he has yet to even play a single NHL game and may want to temper their expectations.

Yeah honestly I feel like all Rags prospects get that

A+ group in fairness but it definitely goes too far...

Man their alternate dimension team finna be lit!! 😃
