why would you move matheson and keep petterson? Matheson actually played well for the second half of the year and petterson is an overpaid 7th dman. Also, you are coming back with the same goalie core after that debacle?

20 players & zero-Cap left for the other 3 "players" or a good kids party favours.

Yeah, the Pens never have injury trouble - you'll be fine, plan the parade...

0 chance you can move Matheson. Even with better play towards the end, that contract is one teams will want to stay away from.

Probably have better luck moving Pettersson.

Pens need to address goaltending. They let their best goalie get away in the Vegas expansion draft. Fatal error (contract did need to go).

I’d like to see pit use a slight retool. Attempt to move a few guys out to create some cap space, then acquire a goalie. What about drieger from florida? He’s a UFA and could be an interesting option if they think he fits. Yes I know he’s struggled during the playoffs a bit, but he’s a great goalie and could fit well in a legit tandem with Jarry.

This should be titled, how to make sure we get knocked out round 1 next year.

Lets just throw this comment into the whole bin of comments on how they'll never more Gudbranson, or Maatta, or insert name here.
FFS, Jack Johnson got a contract last year. They will move Matheson no problem. Won't cost anything to do it either.

Okay yeah you’re right if JJ can get a deal, I’m sure matheson can be moved. But I do think it’ll cost something. Because he’s got so much term and he’s struggled quite a bit. Especially in a flat cap world, I just don’t see any team wanting to take that deal on without getting a nice sweetener.

Matheson was the same guy he was in Florida. Not good defensively and average offensively. He should be traded the first chance they get, he is not a long term solution.

Pettersson had the best defensive results of any Pens d-man. He is not the person you look to trade unless you get a great return for him.

There isn't much they can do for the goalies. They paid Jarry to be the starter and that's how it's going to have to be.

How would the same team but with improvements be knocked out in round 1 next year? No major changes are needed.

Multiple teams got returns on Gudbranson with term.
I don't know how you are going to argue this. It's just wrong.
There aren't enough defensemen in the league. Especially those playing decently. On top of it, you got Seattle coming in taking up 7 more guys.
He'll be moved. It won't cost anything.
