Washington gets a top prospect and a pick, but the biggest thing they gain here might be the cap space to setup for next year's run.

Jackets get a veteran center who knows how to play with high end offensive talent (for Laine).
Costs them foudy thoughfrown

(Jackets could add another pick or change the 2nd to a late 1st 2020 )

I was just thinking about Domi for Kuznetsov straight up. Depends on how badly they want to move the contract. National media makes it sound like they may need to dump it. Would think they would need to retain a lot of salary for this package. Remove Foudy and maybe upgrade the pick to the latest of the first round picks. Also needs to not be on Kuznetsov's no trade list. May need to see who's hired as a coach.

So this guy has really fallen that far? ...I knew he was damaged goods with an expensive contract but he was so good only 2/3 years ago...

Yeah, his stats have fallen, and there's rumors of some pretty heavy "extra curricular activities"

He's still a 60-70 point per year guy. People are acting like he's a 30-40 point guy. Washington does want to trade him but they aren't just going to give him up. The package would probably need to be, at the very least,: a 2/3C, a good prospect and a 2/3rd round pick. So this package that you have is good.

This is exactly where my head was at making it up. He might not perfect but he's still got value and won't be a toss away for Washington.
Maybe he even gets the wake up call when traded?

Yeah I agree he's definitely got value. I think the wakeup call might happen, I feel as if he's gotten too comfortable with the Caps and getting traded would cause him to step up his game A. to get back at the Caps B. to prove himself to his new teammates.
