With respect to Dallas, Vegas tried to play fast and heavy against a faster and heavier group of guys. Dallas was able to avoid the post whistle scrums Vegas likes so much. Attribute that to a veteran group and guys not shying away during gameplay (ie Klingberg on Reaves). Got some great goaltending from Khudobin, but the system and style of the games suppressed a number of quality chances.

Vegas was likely the best matchup for Dallas last year of all postseason teams because they tried to play the same game, just not as well. St. Louis would have topped the Stars in a WCF had they made it. Dallas likely would have lost to Calgary in round 1 had Tkachuk not missed time, IMO.

The fact that you can construct a team this nasty, and only be $3.5 over the cap is noooice!

Do you think that Blue print would’ve still worked if the Avalanche still had Grubauer in net in last year? Teams should study Dallas’ tape because they beat the two scariest teams in the west. The Tampa series I think the injuries piled up and they got goalied but run that series over 10 times it might be even

Play a solid structure defense and have good goaltending. MN's d-men don't pinch much against Vegas and give up the o-zone to limit rushes the other way.

Beating MAF is a different story. If he's on his best game then it'll be a long night of slogging hockey for both team.

Take out Spurgeon and put in Cole. You'd be under the cap, and better off.

Score goals and not let the other team score. Seriously we just out played them, when we had chances we buried them they didn’t.

Yea interesting about the pinching. Cause they’re a really good transition team so not pinching doesn’t give them as many odd man rushes as they’d like. It also suppresses Minnesota’s scoring chances but they’re comfortable with that type of game. Dean’s fallen under the radar this year

That's the way MN has played their entire existence. The d-men have the green light to pinch, but they don't do it much unless it's a high probability chance. The FWDs rotate well to the points to cover that too.

Vegas scores a lot off the rush and off rebounds. They'll take a lot of low danger shots and create havoc with rebounds. A good goalie doesn't give up many juicy rebounds, and a solid defensive structure doesn't make for many odd-man rushes. This plays into MN's game almost perfectly, it's why they've been good against Vegas since Vegas started playing.

Would be nice if NHL Tonight or other sources would give proper breakdowns on series rather than D riding star players. Cause if I hadn’t watched this series I’d think Krill was winning these games single handedly
