This trade makes a lot of sense Money wise for Edmonton. They get rid of 6M that Mcdavid will need in the next year. And they actually add a Veteran.

While i think the value is fair, and that it makes sense financially, I'm pretty sure that if Edmonton gives up a key piece like RNH there going to want a D-man coming back or at least a defensive prospect. EDM would probably want Juulsen instead of Hudon, and that's where MTL says no.

The idea is still to win, and Hudon and 30th pick is virtually meaningless to a team that wants to win (or least make the playoffs) By the same logic....the Oilers should trade a cap hit and two non NHLers for Price, so Montreal will have cap space in couple years to sign some players.

Ya, I think that the Oilers would want Sergachev, 1st and maybe Scherbak as a return. RNH doesn't do it for me honestly. I would rather have Landeskog.

The analogy is over the top but the point itself makes perfect sense. It would of made more sense to use trading Pacioretty to be able to sign Price in his comment.

Habs27. The same reason you traded for RHN is the same reason the Oilers would want him RHN now. The return you gave the Oilers doesn't help the Oilers now. or even likely in the future. If a stupid lllooool like me can see it, a imagine the Oilers GM can too. Sorry you couldn't see the logic through those Habs coloured glasses.

Habs pass on RNH and his longterm $6M cap hit, he would Habs 3rd centre behind Chucky & Danault, at least Pleky's deal comes off the books after 1 more season ...
