Wow, that's leaning into the rebuild. Murphy is their best dman by alot right now. Wouldn't you want to extend him?

I feel like we eigther need to go in on competing now with the aging Toews/Kane/Kieth/Murphy

    or

Move forward rebuilding around Cat/Dach/Reichel/Boqvist/11th OA

We can't play the middle game again like we did this year and last year and the year before. We aern't progressing. Eigther give the core what they deserve which is a competitive roster a chance at one more cup or finish off this rebuild. There are some studs in the next two lotteries. If the hawks can land Wright or Bedard this team is set aside from #1 LD

That would taking WINNING the lottery to get either of those guys. I don't like those odds. AND, look at what the #1oa picks have been doing. Yes, there's Kane, but it took Ovi 13 years. Stamkos 11 years. And then not a single other #1OA pick since Stamkos has won one. It truly takes a team...and I'd argue even Ovi/Stamkos had great teams around them...to win the cup.

I think we need to continue to develop these guys. Holloway would be HUGE! But Stan needs to start the whole (Tallon) process over again...which was signing Campbell. That was a huge UFA signing (huge money at the time too) that started this off. Maybe a guy like Jones or Lindholm believe in the direction we're going?

Maybe, but that's still another year away for those guys to hit UFA, if they even make it there.

He’ll sign his next deal when he’s just about 30. Not saying he isn’t worth keeping, just saying it isn’t a recipe for success as the league gets younger and faster

Putting Murph in the aging catagory with the other guys was a mistake on my part, and don't get me wromg I think he's a really good dman. But signing a new deal for say 5 years when he's just about 30 at the time of signing doesn't really seem worth it if the team is going to be mediocre for another 3 years. If we go the route of bringing guys in to compete now then he's 100% worth extending though

If there is one prospect that is untouchable for the Oilers, it should be Holloway
