I frankly don't think the Penguins have the right kinds of assets necessary to get Jones.

Columbus, as a re-building team, this makes sense. They can retain on salary for Marino and Zucker if needed and add quite a few picks prospects in future trades. For PIT, trading a middle 6 winger -middle pair RD and picks makes little sense for a 1 year LD.
