That'd work for us, but I don't think Edmonton has any appetite for trading either of the Big Two for literally anything at all.

No way the Oilers even contemplate that trade.

Top 10 maybe, but he never played well before McJesus and other than a 2 month period once, he never produced top 10 in expected goals for without McJ in the lineup, let alone eating up quality competition himself.

at the end of the day its not about expected its about actual points scored. since 2016-17 drai is 2nd in league in points, 5th in goals. he is easily a top 5 player. when was the last time a top 5 player was traded in the salary cap era?

And saying he never played well without connor is a dumb justification for him not being a top 5 player given that he was drafted only a year before connor and over the last few years was primarily 5v5 driving his own line. It would be like saying that prime malkin was never a top 5 player in the league because he played with crosby when he won a hart trophy. as did leon. By your argument, matthews isn't top 5 because he plays with marner and kucherov can't be because he plays with stamkos, point and hedman.

A top 5 player in the NHL simply would never get traded unless the return is a kings ransom, a kings ransom that columbus simply cannot offer.

Show me those stats because from what I see he doesn't drive his own line of lesser talent vs higher rel quality competition without McJay

his primary ice time 5v5 this year was with kahun and yamamoto where he was 4th in the NHL in EVP and last year hist primary 5v5 linemates were yamo and nuge where he was 2nd in the NHL in EVP.

and the whole "well he gets points on the powerplay with mcdavid" is a dumb argument to make because every team has their top offensive players on the PP and nobody is able to come close to mcdrais production with a more dangerous overall group (toronto, avs, tbl, boston) . And if it was so easy to play that well with mcdavid how come nobody else has been able to do it to this extent? saying that drai isn't a top 5 by now is ridiculous cause he has done everything there is to do aside from winning the big one.

nice cherry picking there bud, except his primary ice time on exactly that line had a sub 47% corsi and fenwick and he's only top 4 in stats including his time with McJayJay

blatantly not true, '19-20 Drai was on ice with McJ + Kass 36% of 5v5 mins and RNH + Yam 27% and he still finished the season with a 48% CF but sure, winning an MVP thru point padding means more than relative stat analysis awesome face

aside from winning the big one.

its almost as if playoff hockey is different than reg ish and that actually.... matters?!?! scream

he won the ted lindsay and the hart that year so I'd think the people that cover the game for a living and actually play the game know more about who deserves to be an MVP than randoms fans behind a key board.

Drai has the accolades and the production over a sustained period of time to back up being a top 5 player. Mcdavid on his own tier but the Mackinnon's, panarin's, kucherov'sand drais's are in that next highest tier in the league. Saying that after all he has done, he still isnt a top 5 player in the league is looney. In an 82 game season this year, he would have achieved 100pts 3 straight seasons. and 40+ goals in 3 straight. The guy was on pace for a 123 point season (tied for 3rd best in salary cap era)
