Oilers 2021-22 V1

Created by: GoOilGo99
Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: May 31, 2021
Published: May 31, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
*Might be light on the salaries but plenty of space to adjust to what you feel is more accurate, but still leaving some room for a big Nurse payday and increase for Jesse next season
*Add Hoffman, yes a bit risky but give Connor a stone-cold sniper he's never had, worth a one-year experiment, plus one year for Hoff (and one year for Haula further down lineup) allows room for Holloway to start in Bakersfield and emerge later in the season)
*Add Saad who should be a 20G guy, adds size and speed for Leon's line
*Strength in the dot - Glendenning-61%, Haula-55%, Bozak-56% so loads of flexibility with game management, with Leon Oil now has 4 players who are >50% in the dot and 2-RH and 2-LH for ultimate game management, I say "players" because a couple will play wing (Bozak, Haula) but can take faceoffs when needed and then slide back to the wing for their shift
*Ultimate flexibility in position with layers of Centers on same lines allowing for swapping out centers during shift depending on which side faceoff occurs, McLeod/Bozak Glendenning/Haula
*Add Cup winning experience (Saad, Coleman, Bozak) and a "grey beard" in Bozak
*Add Oleksiak for size and toughness
*Resign Smith to one-year deal
*Add Ulmark as #1 Goalie, he had great numbers on a terrible Sabres team, a risk but better than Koskinen
*Trade Neal and 2021 #1 to Seattle, free up lots of $$$
*Trade Kass to NYR for picks, Slats still advises NYR and loves tough guys like Kass, replace Kass toughness with Ritchie at a fraction of the cost & assign these $$$ to the LW
*Trade Caleb Jones to CBJ for a pick, preferable to losing him for nothing in entry draft
*Trade Stalock to Philly for a late pick, though Stalock may have no value, just making the trade to move him out of the lineup
*Buyout Koskinen
*Send Turris to the minors
*Resign Skinner and he's starter in Bakersfield
*As for trading the 1st 2021 pick not great....BUT you add more picks in 3rd, 4th and 7th. 2021 is the year to have lots of late picks as with the lack of Junior leagues playing there will be some great players available to the astute GM/Scouting Department....in Kenny we trust (e.g. Datsyk-6th round, Zetterberg-7th round)

You think Zack Kassian nets more assets than Caleb Jones?

Love seeing all new LW's lol. So unlikely, BUT, shows there are quite a lot of players out there to get. I'd be happy with any of the first 3 in the top 6, heck Haula might look good with McDavid too. Faster and with a lot of playoff experience, huge upgrade over Kahun.

Perhaps, but the Owner is non-logical (suspect the knee-jerk firing of Gorton a seasoned GM was Owner related) and did not like that his team was perceived as "weak" in the failure to protect Panarin. So do I personally think the Rangers should decline on my proposed trade? Yes. But I'm going on the theory that the Owner is eager to get more toughness and will pay a premium. So if you were the Rangers GM (and probably if I were the GM) we would say No to this trade. Pretty sure Drury is smart enough to know the premium placed on toughness by the Owner.
