Trades
1.
CGY
  1. Dumba, Matt
  2. 2023 1st round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Minnesota needs a 1C, we all know that, while Joel Eriksson Ek is quickly becoming a great centerman, we need more than just him. Rossi might take a while to develop so I think Monahan would be the perfect fit. They get Matt Dumba who needs a change of scenery and CGY needs defense and i think 1st in 2023 would push it over the edge. Great deal for both sides.
2.
NYI
  1. Parise, Zach
Additional Details:
This was a trade that almost went through in the 2019-2020 season. This is a Cap Dump for Minnesota. Ladd goes straight to LTIR and Parise can be in the Bottom 6 for NYI.

  1. Greenway, Jordan

Your ideal offseason has Dumba as a 7th D, no one going to Seattle or playing 4C?

I'm sure you'll get plenty of "Guerin isn't interested in Monahan" by the people who have Guerin on speed dial and know his every thought. lol

I don't mind the trade, it gives the Wild a top 6 center for a couple seasons while they let Rossi develop. Monahan/Ek/Rossi would be a nice 1-2-3 punch down the middle, but I don't see why the Wild would need to add a 1st. If Calgary wants to move Monahan, it's to change things up and address a need, so if they need a top 4 RHD, Dumba would fit.

Isles wouldn’t do that for that exact final sentence. Every dollar is precious in these parts!

That was what was reported by Russo, but I'm still pretty surprised we wouldn't be interested. Even with his shortcomings Monahan is still a very good center. I think a 1 for 1 is fair, don't see any reason to add a 1st.

I think Monahan and Reinhart are my preferred targets this offseason. Obviously Eichel would be great if we don't have to sell our farm and give up a kidney.

I'd much rather a Dumba for Monahan swap than giving up multiple assets for Eichel and his cap hit. I haven't been this hopeful for the future of the team since Granlund and Brodin were prospects, so I'd really like them to hold on to their prospects and see how they develop. If even half of them develop, this team will be very good.

Personally the whole "Guerin isn't interested" narrative gets old quick because things change and this site is to discuss what might make sense for a team to do.

Definitely agree. That report was from a while ago, a lot has happened since then. Monahan for Dumba absolutely makes sense for the Wild in my opinion.

At this point, it's more likely the Wild either buy out Parise or agree to a mutual contract termination and Lou signs Parise as a UFA to a cheap deal to give him another shot. Isles taking Parise's full hit doesn't make sense.

The original deal offered by CGY was a 1-1 Dumba-Monahan, and Monahan's value hasn't exactly increased since then, so I can't imagine the wild would need to include that 1st as well. I think a 1-1 makes sense. Additionally, I think Monahan would do quite well in MIN. It's a pretty quiet market, the expectations for him would be reasonable, he's a natural goal scorer and would get plenty of nice setups from Kap/Zucc, good secondary scoring to help alleviate pressure. Overall, assuming he's healthy and feeling good, I think there's potential to be a very good fit.

Definitely. Guess it just depends on what Guerin thinks of Dumba after this year. This is one of the better offseasons in terms of acquirable centers than years past, there could be a lot of moving pieces and hopefully we finally land a capable 1C.
