No...just no. Marner is a terrific playmaker but the Blues should not have a guy with that kind of cap hit on their team. Go for Nylander instead.

TOR would be out of their mind to trade Marner. But I feel like Nylander is off the table cause of his reasonable contract

Unfortunately for Toronto, they may not have a choice. Don't know how many teams would trade for Marner considering his cap hit and the fact his contract takes him to UFA.

1. Tarasenko is VERY injury prone 29 year old who hasn't had a 80 point season vs Marner who is 23 years old who has put up (on pace) three 90 point seasons in a row.
2. Vince Dunn + the 1st are nice assets but aren't the value someone who finished top 5 in scoring.

First of all, Toronto never takes that deal, Tarasenko is a 29 year old injury prone player, his value is no where near Marner even with his contract.
We do not and will not move any of our top 4 players. If we are it won't be for some **** cap dumb like this

I wasn't speaking to the value of the trade itself. Regardless of what the value is, I wouldn't trade for Marner period because of his cap hit.

Ya fair, the flat cap makes movement of large contracts almost impossible

I agree on both. Wish they'd trade Willy, he's a gem. Getting Marner for VT + Dunn + 18oa (and using Walman in Dunn's place) would be STL taking advantage of TOR's mistakes, first one was when they signed MM to that AAV, second is if they were to trade him at age 24 after a bad playoff series, third would be if they trusted VT to be the player he was in his prime for the rest of his deal.

There's about a 1% chance of finding a player like Marner at his age outside of drafting him in the top5 and developing him. IMO you put up with the bad contract, just treat is as 8m for MM and 3m as a bad deal for a replacement level player, which many teams end up carrying around anyways (looking at you, Scandella).
