Panthers should consider selling high, but I'm sure they won't.

For as fun as it is to dunk on Marner at the moment. You have to realize that he is a better player than Tippett could even dream of being, Duclair staying is no sure thing, and Verhaeghe is a sell-high. He is top 5 in points still. Gotta put the Homer glasses away for once dude. Panthers fan to Panthers fan.

I don't care that he is the better player. He got 4 assists and nothing else in 7 games of the playoffs playing with world class offensive talent. He makes 10.9 million dollars. This will complicate re-signing barkov
I would never trade a bunch of great cost controlled players for a player like marner on a bloated deal who fails in the playoffs

I don't think he will complicate it. Stralman's money will be going straight to Barkov regardless. We have so much cap space right now as is. We are kind of abusing the word great in my opinion, dont you think?

If it’s not a pure hockey trade, Marner will get a futures package. Not half of a teams roster.

Can't see the leafs making a trade for prospects. Panthers are deep and have cap space to recover.

We really dont. With bobs contract it really complicated the future if we get marner. You’d have to take back yandle if he were to waive. And even then we can’t resign the three of barkov huberdeau and weegar

Panthers aren’t that deep after this trade. Theyre not similar to the current Leafs. You took all the depth. It makes zero sense for FL to destroy their depth for one player when they can add other quality players instead.

Also Marner would have to go for futures because the team acquiring him are trying to win now. So outside of a hockey trade, TOR would get futures and then turn them and the cap saved into multiple quality players to add quality depth instead of what they have now.

Hornqvist and Yandle's money go away in the same year as Huberdeau and Weegar next contract date. I have no clue what you are talking about. You might wanna use other features on this website...

I just disagree on your assessment of the Panthers. We scratched Gusev, Heponiemi, Denisenko, Lammiko, Wallmark, and Luosterinen for the entirety of the playoffs. Sorry, I just dont think you know what you are talking about here.

And this very team will be in the same dumb situation as the leafs paying 4 guys 40 million so smart guy. They won’t have the money to resign the key depth guys

I now also direct you to our scratched depth from the playoffs. All those guys were capable and cheap, they won't be going anywhere, and they wont be making crazy money for a long time.

3 of those players have a chance of being anything for FL. In theory the Marner trade is fine but your relying on rookies to take up the slack and then hampering the ability to upgrade the D. Adding 8M to a team with some cap problems forces them to use assets to rid of Yandle and Stralman. An upgrade of the second pair would do much more than Marner.

Only one of those turns into a top 6 player. Others are 4th liners. Maybe luosterinen makes it two a third line center. We need better d not top line wingers

They could afford this and just let Stralman and Yandle expire when they do and be just fine. This was Verhaeghe's first year as a regular, as well as Tippet's. Your remark about rookies is incredibly contradictory.

Got shutout by Tampa in Game 6, scored 1 goal in Game 2. Offense isn't prefect right now. Denisenko and Heponiemi were first round picks. Your take is awful.

Verhaege was a regular last season but good try. They also actually can’t keep Stralman and Yandle and add Marner. There’s not enough cap space to sign Bennett and get to 22/23 players. Plus the D core is poor after the top pair.

Bennett is getting 3x3 max. Verhaeghe played 52 games as a 4th liner and only 6 in the postseason during a cup run. We made him a First Liner; those seasons aren't comparable with respect to ice time.

Moving the goal posts I see?

Okay say Bennett only gets 3M. That 21 players and 150K in cap left. Hope no one gets hurt.

We were a top 10 offensive team again when we were suppose to be a lottery winning team at beginning of the season. Hepo was a second liner. I’m not saying I’d take marner but he’s grossly over paid and it is take resigning huberdeau over trading half our top 9 for marner.

Verhaegee played with barkov and duclair 90% of the year.

No goalposts moved, 9 mins a game does not make you a regular. Not like we dont have moveable contracts...
