easy no from buffalo? why trade a 10 mill center for a 10.5 mill winger? centers are more valuable

Eichel is also probably better

This has less than a zero percent chance of happening.

Yeah I'm assuming here that Eichel isn't staying in Buffalo, that he's going somewhere. I'm also assuming that the Rangers aren't giving them Lafreniere for him, so Buffalo's not going to have a ton of potential trade partners in this cap-stationary next few years.

Marner can play with Reinhart, but also his cap hit is 10.9 each year but if the Leafs pay his signing bonus this July, he's only owed 6.2 million per year for the next four years. Figured that might be enough of a sweetener for the Buffalo owner to go for it.

Although maybe that's more of a Melnyk sweetener than a Pegula sweetener Sticking Out Tongue

You are admittedly on to something there regarding the real $ savings. Pegula is a bit of the new Melnyk. Still would need to add based on the cap hit and the position value. Doubt Buffalo wants to move Eichel in division either way.

It's a reasonable idea but the Leafs have to add for sure to get Eichel.

Yeah I saw some more talk recently of doing this but adding Nick Robertson or Sanding to it from the Leafs' side as well. That makes me more nervous but maybe that's an indicator that it's a more fair trade.
