pens fan here. CGY and WPG fans will hate these deals. The WPG deal could maybe be fixed by adjusting the picks, but the CGY deal is not happening. Teams don't just acquire a #4 draft pick "for insurance" with fringe prospects/players and a 3rd pick. Pouliot + Wilson + 3rd is not close in value compared to a possible future #2 C. Side note, I don't think Bonino is playing himself out of the Pens' price range currently.

With your logic....Pouliot is a #8 overall pick so what's the difference? Bennett has been a healthy scratch in need of a change just like Pouliot. Not as lop sided as you may think. What switching of the picks do you think would have to be done to make the WPG deal work?

I just think with GMs perception is reality. It is no secret that Pouliot has a poor perception around the league, including inside his own team. Some would even say he is a bust. I don't think anyone is saying that about Bennett. He played the whole last season in the NHL putting up a solid year. Pouliot has had 3 seasons to prove himself in the NHL and can't do it. I like Pouliot and think he could have some value to certain GMs. I just don't think Bennett is available.

For Trouba I think switching the picks would be a start.. Pens give up 3rd, get 5th back. I don't think WPG is really looking for help in net though. They're not really threatening for playoffs.
