Description
Thoughts? Moving Rask to the minors and saving 1.8 million could be a great move. Can keep him there as a 13th forward until end of the year. Assuming he would have to go through waivers each time, if anybody wanted to take him and his cap hit they are more than welcome to.

Personally I do not want anything to do with Danault unless everything else fails. He's a good center, don't get me wrong, but at this point he's a worse JEE and we need an offensive center that can bury scoring chances to play with Kaprizov.

My preferred options are Eichel (assuming we don't have to pay an arm and a leg), Monahan, and Reinhart. Kuzy is also interesting but Guerin has worked really hard to improve the culture of this team and I'm not sure if Kuzy helps that.

If we can’t afford a true 1C through a trade, I think Dannult is a great option. Name of the game is out scoring your opponent one way to do that is win games 1-0 and 2-1 rather than 6-5. It will be really tough for teams to score against us and hopefully Rossi is able to provide offense, while also learning from 2 of the better defensive centers in the league .

Kap and Fiala are going to require more money than that. That's also high on Ek and Cole, IMO. Danault will also cost more than 5M.

Lol 20 years as a franchise winning games 1-0, 2-1 and finally we have a year of offense, and you want to turn back?!!

Dannult has helped shut down Sidney crosby and Auston Matthews the last 2 playoffs. JEE is a top defensive center who just put up 20 in a short season, Rossi is one of the better center prospects around. Danult can at least keep up with our wings and is a good playmaker. He would fit In well offensively while also always bribing great D. Can’t say that about Kuzy, Monohan or Reinheart. If any of their offensive production drops off they quickly become very expensive to keep around.

I'm aware - I actually said the same thing re: crosby and matthews in another thread earlier today. Danault is a great player and he'd definitely make the Wild bette. But he's going to be expensive, and like the other commenter said, he doesn't really score goals. Kap and Zucc need a finisher. I'm not terribly opposed to Danault, but I just think there are better options available for that price point.

But just to be clear, I was more laughing at your comment about the low scoring, tight defensive play, and not your suggestion of Danault. We were arguably the most boring team in the league up until this year.

I like the Idea of acquiring Eichel, but in his absence I don't hate the Danault idea if he is cheap and term is reasonable.
I don't like your line combos though.
I think it goes Boldy-JEEk-Fiala
Zuccarello-Rossi-Kaprizov
Foligno-Danault-Greenway
Parise-Sturm-Hartman

I realize Rossi probably isn't ready for that yet so wild will probably need to mix that up until Rossi finds his stride.

I mean if Kap isn’t taking our 8x8 deal, I can see him taking the 4x6 or 4x7. Panarin took a 2x6 deal. Also is this showing correctly that after a 4 year deal he would still be an RFA?

With all the talented wings the Wild have in their system, they can definitely score and definitely win with a middle made up with Ek/Danault/Rossi/Sturm. They would be very frustrating to play against and the offense can be run through the wings while the centers do most of the heavy lifting.

My thoughts exactly. Especially if Rossi is able to live up to his offensive potential, with our D corps of Brodin, Suter and Spurgeon this team could be a very frustrating team to play against especially in the playoffs.
