GMRH said he isn’t making any deals with Seattle to take a player. They are just going to make a protection list and live with the player that gets chosen. I also doubt he trades Friedman. I’d rather them trade Ruhwedel anyway and keep the younger Friedman.

Kings need a top-line LD to play 22+ min a night with Doughty, Pettersson spending 16 minutes per game on the bottom pairing doesn't seem like what the Kings are looking for.

I do realize that's what Hextall said but I still think it would be a solid move. And I think friedman just isn't that useful as the penguins have Riikola and Joseph as young guys and he's more likely to be accepted as not many people want ruhwedel

I dunno the kings are pretty weak everywhere and Pettersson's value dropped due to an off season but last year he was a very solid second pairing guy for a low value. Plus I think they'd be better trying to fit a young guy into a top role.

I don’t think teams would turn away from Ruhwedel. He is a solid 7 D. And he’d only be a 1 year option. I think POJ probably finds his way into the lineup tbh.

I agree ruhwedel is solid but friedman is more desirable and as a pens fan myself i hope POJ gets a spot he was great

As long as he gets paired with a solid defensive defenseman that can cover for him as he does his pinches and plays his game in a sheltered role. I think he got a bit overwhelmed when put in a top pair role. Especially with someone like Letang.

I can’t say I agree with you there. Andersson played top line minutes with Doughty as a rookie and actually did decently, and Bjornfot looked great as a rookie as well, both are on cheap contracts and likely with the team long term as bottom 4 LD with the potential of taking over that top line spot eventually. The Kings just don’t feel confident with either so quickly thrust into the top line with a player who eats 26 minutes a night. Defense is pretty set on the right side as well, so the Kings, defensively really need one top line LD anchor and they are set long term. I can’t say Petersson answers this for them.

Except Riikola and POJ are both LD. Friedman played some LD when he had to this year, but the Pens typically play to the side of their hand...he would likely be a RD long-term.
