To be the undisputed #1 goalie and get playing time. Knight and Driedger are the goalies there. And thats a good return for Seattle for that contract. This should work

This is very minor but I reckon they'd need an official selection from Florida as retention necessitates a trade and... oh god I'm even boring myself here 🤓

Idk.... some UFA thats already expired and can test open market instead of being forced to sign in Seattle?

Dreidger had success in Florida, goalies usually wanna stay where they have success, look at how devastated Lehner was when the isles wouldnt resign him. Also, hes a professional athlete, even if he isn't the most competitive person and cares about money MORE than winning, no athlete want's to not play the game they made a career of to just sit and watch. He was driven enough to want to be the best at one point, thats not all gone... he just got old and isn't as good.
