I don’t hate it. Although I wouldn’t sign Bernier - certainly not at 3M. Also, I think I’ll pass on Nate Thompson. I think we can fill that roll within.

As for protection list, it’ll be super interesting to see who we protect because there will be quality players available. I wouldn’t try to make a deal with Seattle. Just let them take whoever and be done with it.

As for my protection list:
F: Gallagher, KK, Toffoli, Anderson, Danault, Lehkonen, Drouin
(Id expose Evans because I don’t see Seattle taking him. I think they might look at concussion history and not want to gamble and there should be enough players like him around the league to pick. It’s a gamble, but I don’t see them taking Evans especially with who might be available on D and G from us. I’d be hesitant to expose Lehkonen or Drouin as they are a bit more established. I really hope they don’t take Evans though, he has been super impressive this year and he might still be under the radar)
D: Weber, Petry, Chiarot
(I’d expose Edmundson. Really tough decision between him and Ben. Would love to keep them both, and think we will based on who Seattle picks)
G: Allen (this is who I think Seattle takes, although there are a lot of goalie free agents this year so who knows)

Basically, I think it comes down Edmundson, Chiarot or Allen.

Why not? Was he not leading the team in assists when he went down? He played fewer games than these players and had roughly the same points as them -puljajurvi( who is playing with McDavid), Josh Anderson, Saad, Laine and Lafreniere. And yet, people treat him as if he is useless.

People wouldn’t protect Drouin on a bad 40-45 points season, but would protect Evans on a great season of 10 points. Like come on, Drouin is good, is defensive issues are the problem.

drouin can't even play in the playoffs. is your goal to finish first during the regular season? he is done. salvage what we can.
